Manufacturing features and composition

Armani silk contains only synthetic fibers. The fabric composition is shown in the table below.

Component namesInterest
Polyester97
Spandex (elastane)3

The percentage of main components may vary among different manufacturers. There are options that contain up to 30% viscose, and this is no longer synthetic, but an artificial material obtained as a result of chemical processing of natural wood or cellulose. Its properties will naturally differ from a completely synthetic sample. The material appeared no earlier than the 60s of the last century, when polyester, spandex and other synthetic polymers were actually created and began to be mass produced.

Armani silk fabric has an average density of 85 to 96 g/m2. Thin fibers of a triangular prismatic shape are characterized by a satin weave, in which diagonal stripes are practically invisible on the front surface of the smooth material. The manufacturing method gives the fabric strength as well as a matte shine. The finished material is dyed and dried. During printing, shrinkage of 3-5% is possible.

  • Underwear;
  • Cosmetics and much more.

Armani boutiques and multi-brand stores are located everywhere. This brand has become a real indicator of status and good taste. Many world-famous stars, as well as famous personalities, prefer outfits and accessories of this brand. Therefore, they completely trust them to create their image. For most people, the Armani brand has become a real object of worship in the good sense of the word, since it is impossible to refuse chic outfits.

Characteristics: pros and cons

Armani silk is elastic in the weft and is therefore characterized by transverse stretching. Draps well, wear-resistant, practical, durable. Opaque, which is different from chiffon. Elastic due to spandex. Characterized by a matte, muted shine. Much more attractive than wear-resistant acrylic and durable nylon. It is not inferior to them in other characteristics. It comes in bright and delicate shades. The “Giorgio Armani print” should not be confused with natural silk, because in these cases we are talking about completely different materials.

Natural silk has complex production technology. The fibers are produced by silkworm caterpillars before they develop into chrysalises. One cocoon produces almost 1 km of threads, but for strength they are combined in 5-8 pieces into one silk fiber. With Armani silk, in terms of production, everything is much simpler. Synthetics are made through the process of chemical transformations of hydrocarbon raw materials, that is, oil and natural gas.

Among the disadvantages it is worth noting:

  • difficulty in processing sliding fabric;
  • completely synthetic or artificial composition;
  • cheap, low-quality material can provoke skin irritation, as well as allergic reactions;
  • electrification, as a consequence the need to use antistatic agents;
  • low hygroscopicity due to the synthetic composition;
  • thin fibers, as well as satin weave, lead to high wetness of the material;
  • average level of vapor and air permeability, this is lower than that of natural, viscose, as well as acetate silk or cotton;
  • low thermal insulation properties, which is natural for thin fabric;
  • average heat resistance, allowing ironing at temperatures not exceeding 150°C;
  • low dust holding capacity due to smooth surface.

Important. Only professionals can work with the capricious Armani fabric. The fabric is fraying a lot. A regular household sewing machine may not be able to cope with constantly shifting slippery material. Unlike weft threads in seams, warp threads can move apart.

Proper care

If you follow some simple rules for caring for the fabric, it will serve for a long time, delighting its owner:

  • Washing can be done by hand or machine, but in a gentle cycle at a temperature of 30 to 40°C.
  • Bleach and chlorine products are contraindicated.
  • Mild liquid detergents are suitable for washing.
  • Conditioners make fabric soft, retain colors, and remove static electricity.
  • Squeeze carefully at minimum drum speed.
  • Iron in the “silk” mode with a low-heat iron (up to 150°C) without steam on the reverse side through additional fabric in the form of thin gauze. First, it is better to try on an inconspicuous area of the product.
  • When drying products, avoid direct sunlight and exposure to heating devices.
  • Store on hangers to prevent the material from becoming too wrinkled.

Advice. The material does not shrink, can withstand dry cleaning, but does not mold well in humid, warm air. It is better to cover evening dresses with covers. Stoles and robes should be carefully folded and stored on shelves.
