What is it made from?

Modern artificial material has a multilayer structure. The production process is simple: a special composition – polyvinyl chloride – is evenly applied to the fibrous base (fabric, knitwear, paper). During finishing, sanding, varnishing or embossing is used. The canvas is painted in various shades, it is possible to apply a pattern or design. Furniture leatherette is elastic and soft to the touch, available in a variety of colors and textures.

The key to long service life is the use of a solid base. Initially, low-quality fabric can cause the fabric to quickly crack or rupture under heavy loads. In some cases, the textile base is additionally impregnated with special compounds that increase the strength and density of the final product.

Color spectrum

As a rule, each manufacturer creates its own palette of artificial leather shades. In this case, the texture of the canvas must be taken into account.

The material imitates natural leather and has natural shades of brown and red. These tones are suitable for classic-style furniture.

Faux leather can have an unusual embossing (small geometric pattern), and the application of an additional glossy coating gives the canvas a colorful, elegant look. The color scheme for such materials is usually chosen in soft, pastel shades. This type of upholstery gives the furniture a modern look.

Often, when making objects, materials of different colors are combined. Therefore, manufacturers initially form leather collections based on shades and textures to make it easier to select harmonious combinations.

Rules of care

If you adhere to certain rules for furniture maintenance, the products will retain their original appearance for a long time:

  • constant dry cleaning is carried out using a vacuum cleaner;
  • To remove stains, use a damp cloth (soft sponge) and soap foam. After removing dirt, the surface is wiped dry;
  • To remove traces of ballpoint pens, felt-tip pens, and lipstick, the area is treated with a 10% alcohol solution. Then use a napkin soaked in water and wipe dry;
  • Products with artificial leather upholstery should be placed away from sources of open fire and heating appliances. The canvas is flammable, and can crack due to constant elevated temperatures.

The undoubted advantage of artificial leather for furniture is its practicality and versatility in use.

Application and care

PVH leather has been developed primarily for furniture upholstery. The ease of use and cost of the material allows you to experiment with the “facade” of a sofa, bed, cabinets, and armchairs. Fans of unusual room design use the material as decorative wallpaper and ceiling covering.

The fabric has gained recognition in the automotive industry. The interior, upholstered in synthetic leather, looks dignified, neat and aesthetically pleasing. At the same time, the price range remains within budget limits.

Combined fabrics are used for sewing clothes, accessories, and haberdashery. The color spectrum and ease of processing facilitate the implementation of bold creative ideas without fear of damage. The main products produced are bags, clutches, wallets, shoes, and designer dresses.

Handicraft masters also noted the advantages of the material. Paintings, jewelry, boxes, decorative interior items. The final appearance of the item is limited by the author's imagination.

PVC leather is a capricious fabric, so you need to clean things as carefully as possible.

FurnitureAvoid harsh, abrasive products. The finely dispersed structure contributes to the appearance of scratches. It is recommended to treat the surface with specialized sprays to protect furniture.
ShoesSponges, creams, wipes with water-repellent properties. Maintains color and hides minor defects.
HaberdasheryDirt (stains) are removed with warm soapy water. Soak a soft cloth in the liquid and wipe the stained area. Old stains are removed with a solution of ammonia.

Note! The material does not tolerate prolonged contact with water, so do not machine wash. "Soaking", rinsing and automatic spinning lead to deformation of the fabric.
