Marking of bed linen and other types of textiles

GOST is the main quality standard adopted in Russia and the former republics of the USSR. In Europe, standards are currently observed on a voluntary basis.

Interstate standards also make adjustments to the field of bed linen. This is not surprising, since bed linen belongs to the class of underwear products.

GOST 31307 puts forward certain requirements for bedding for both adults and children. Its scope includes technical requirements for sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers and other related products.

One and a half sets

At the moment, the minimum size that can be found on sale is 1.5 bedroom. For a single bed, even standard sizes of bed linen are not indicated anywhere except in old Soviet reference books. The usual equipment for a semi-truck is: a duvet cover, a sheet and 2 (most often) pillowcases. It is designed for 1 or two people and a sleeping place up to 120-140 cm. If you are interested in a single bedding set and its sizes, read a detailed article about it.

Important:

  • The inscription Single or 1-bed on the package means that only 1 pillowcase is included.
  • German and Austrian sets often come without a sheet, just a duvet cover and pillowcases.
  • Italian ones often have narrow (with normal length) duvet covers, 140 cm wide.

GOST for bed linen: pillowcases

If you look at GOST, you will see that there are two types of pillowcases: bottom and top.

Top pillowcases must meet the following dimensions:

  • No. 1 – 40 cm * 40 cm;
  • No. 3 - 60 cm * 60 cm;
  • No. 4 - 70 cm * 70 cm;
  • No. 4a - 75 cm * 75 cm;
  • No. 5 - 80 cm * 80 cm.

Bottom pillowcases must fit the following dimensions:

  • No. 1 – 38 cm * 38 cm;
  • No. 3 - 58 cm * 58 cm;
  • No. 4 - 68 cm * 68 cm;
  • No. 4a - 73 cm * 73 cm;
  • No. 5 - 78 cm * 78 cm.

How much calico is in a roll

The amount of calico fabric in one roll can be different, this is due to the peculiarities of production, but usually this value is close to 60 or 80 linear meters, less often you can find rolls of calico calico of 100 linear meters. m. That is, one roll can contain 61.1 linear meters. m., and in the other 60.3 linear meters. m. Fabric widths of 150 cm and 220 cm are often packed folded in half in the middle (this is called double folding).

Advantages and disadvantages of calico.

Calico bed linen has a whole arsenal of positive qualities, which include:

  • Low cost.
    A simple weaving method greatly facilitates fabric production. Thanks to this, the price of calico bed linen is much lower than poplin or satin, despite the fact that all the mentioned types of fabric are made of natural cotton;
  • Wear resistance
    . Experienced housewives know that natural dense calico lasts a very long time. The higher the density, the longer the life of the bed linen.
  • Naturalness
    . Calico contains only natural cotton fibers, which cannot but please lovers of all things natural;
  • Hygroscopicity
    . Thanks to its natural cotton composition, calico absorbs moisture well and is suitable for people with excessive sweating;
  • Anti-allergenic
    . There is nothing unnecessary in the composition that could cause allergies;
  • The beauty of the drawings
    . Thanks to the weaving and composition, the designs turn out beautiful and bright, of course, if only high-quality and durable dyes were used in the painting process;
  • Easy to care for.
    Calico bed linen is very easy to care for.

The disadvantages include:

  • Shrinkage
    . Bed linen made from calico, due to its weaving, shrinks slightly after the first wash. The higher the density of the product, the less shrinkage will be;
  • Long drying time
    . Due to the cotton composition, the fabric, after washing, becomes quite heavy and takes a long time to dry. It's all about the structure of cotton fiber, which absorbs moisture very well;

It is worth noting that the above-mentioned advantages and disadvantages apply only to traditional cotton calico and do not apply to synthetic fakes.

Necessary documents and procedures for implementing the system

If you intend to establish a procedure for supplying unique codes (KIZs) for your products by contacting our certification center, you will need to provide a number of documentation. This will be registration documentation, INN, OGRN, bank details of the company, regulatory and technical documentation for the product, available certificates, declarations.

The procedure is represented by the following steps:

  1. Contacting the CA.
  2. Providing documentation.
  3. Registration of an electronic signature with the help of Center experts (if necessary).
  4. Registration in CRPT.
  5. Concluding an agreement with a fiscal data operator.
  6. Purchase of necessary equipment and software.
  7. Conducting employee training.
  8. EDI organization.
  9. Ordering and receiving codes for goods.
  10. Monitoring the functioning of the system in accordance with legal regulations.

Features of GOST standards for bed linen

Typically, bedding sets can contain elements with various types of finishing and details in the form of embroidery, sewing and so on.

Bed linen is subject to standards for the “durable” dyeing group - this means that dyed products must withstand external physical and chemical influences - washing, ironing, friction, sweat, and so on.

As for children's bedding, it should not be made using preparations containing formaldehyde. Also, children's sets must have a high level of hygroscopicity: if for “adult underwear” this figure should be 6%, then for children’s underwear it should be 15%.

Where to begin?

It’s better to start marking now. Especially if you have a diverse range of products. In the last days of the year, you may not have time, and you will need time to organize work with labeled goods.

To do this you need:

  • obtain an enhanced electronic signature, without it you cannot conduct electronic document management and send UPD;
  • purchase an online cash register, register it with the tax office and start using it;
  • connect to the EDI system;
  • register with Honest ZNAK.

To check codes, enter goods into the warehouse accounting system, and mark items that are being disposed of during sale, you will need a scanner; with its help, the process will go much faster. The scanner will also come in handy when the buyer returns the goods - it will be easy to check the code on the package or label with what is in the system. What if they are trying to “return” something that is not yours at all?

Don't forget about warehouse balances. If the product was purchased before January 1, 2021 and you do not have time to sell it by this date, then you can apply codes to it until February 1, 2021. But this is an exception.

European sizes KPB

The sizes of PBCs in European countries often differ from domestic ones. This should be taken into account when purchasing, because French products are designed for pillows 65 by 65 cm, German 80 by 80 cm, and Italian 50 by 70 cm.

Important! If you opted for Euro sizes, measure your pillows before purchasing a set.

Main markings from European manufacturers:

  • single (or twin). Indicates a single bed set;
  • extra long single. This is a one-and-a-half-bed set;
  • double (or full). Name of the double set;
  • queen Marking of oversized underwear. They mostly correspond to the Russian-made European kit;
  • king size. Bed linen for extra large sleeping areas;
  • baby bed Labeling of the newborn kit;
  • Baby bed/Crib. Kids clothes.

GOST on bed linen: sheets

With sheets the situation is more transparent and simpler than with duvet covers. The reason for this is the simplicity of the product design. GOST establishes size standards for sheets, and this is perhaps one of the most important criteria in this case.

We present the ratios of the length and width of sheets of various types:

  • Single sheet (No. 1 – 203 cm * 120 cm, No. 2 – 214 cm * 120 cm);
  • One-and-a-half sheet (214 cm * 130 cm);
  • Double sheet (No. 1 – 214 cm * 145-150 cm, 230 cm * 138-149 cm, No. 2 – 214 cm * 150-165 cm, 214 cm * 150-180 cm, 230 cm * 150-1465 cm);
  • Teenage sheet (180 cm * 100 cm);
  • Children's sheet (No. 1 – 117 cm * 100 cm, No. 2 – 138 cm * 100 cm, No. 3 – 159 cm * 100 cm).

According to GOST, children's and teenage sheets should not have extensions.

How to choose calico?

What are the possible considerations when purchasing calico? The first most important point, it probably concerns the purchase of almost any fabric, it is worth paying attention to the density of calico

, so, often if they offer a cheap price, they supply fabric of significantly lower density (and here the opposite situation occurs, you will buy cheap fabric at a more expensive price), but sometimes they simply deliver fabric of the wrong density. Therefore, remember the normal discrepancy is 7-10 g/m2, I think more is no longer acceptable.

If you are a wholesale buyer, buy a lot and/or on an ongoing basis, then be sure to ask for a reference sample and, at least for the first time, check the incoming batch of fabric with the sample, so you will be more or less insured against fraud on the part of the supplier.

Also, if you buy dyed fabric, it makes sense to check the color fastness on a sample.

It’s also probably worth saying that in general, calico can be made not only from 100% cotton, but also with the addition of synthetic threads, only this fabric is already called differently - polycotton, a fabric that has become widespread.

Normative base

Bed linen is in direct contact with the human body, therefore special requirements are established for its quality at the state level. In the Eurasian Economic Union, today there is already an agreement between the participating countries regarding the mandatory characteristics of such products. Currently, mandatory certification of bed linen is carried out in accordance with the following regulatory documents:

  • technical regulation of the Customs Union 017/2011, dedicated to safety issues in light industry;
  • TR CU 007/2011, which establishes safety criteria for products intended for children and adolescents;
  • interstate standard GOST 31307-2005, which introduces general technical conditions for bedding.

GOST standards

According to the national standard of the Russian Federation GOST R 54393-2011, bed linen refers to all types of garments made from fabrics and textiles and intended to create the required hygienic conditions when organizing a sleeping place.

The assessment of the compliance of such accessories with established safety standards is carried out on the basis of the criteria given in the interstate standards of the GOST system. This ensures the possibility of their use by all states that are part of the Eurasian Economic Union, which means the universality of the standards defining the criteria for quality and safety. Now bed linen is subject to certification using the standards set forth in the international standard GOST 31307-2005.

Documents for conformity assessment

The main list of documentation that the applicant provides for certification of bed linen includes the following items:

  • copies of documents on state registration of a legal entity or individual entrepreneur;
  • operational documentation for the product;
  • copies of documents confirming the origin of the goods.

Depending on the specific conformity assessment scheme chosen, the basic set is supplemented with other documents. The specific composition of the package of documents for certification is determined by the requirements of the relevant technical regulations - 007/2011 or 017/2011.

Cost of certification

The cost of work on certification of bed linen is not established at the legislative level. The certification body has the right to independently set prices for the services offered, based on various factors - for example, the complexity of the chosen certification scheme, the nature of the necessary tests determined by the current requirements, and others. The applicant, in turn, has the right to independently choose a certification center, including based on the cost of its services, provided that it is an accredited body with the authority to assess the conformity of bed linen according to the standards of the Eurasian Economic Union.
