Nowadays, pillows are used not only for sleeping, but also to complete interior design. They are scattered in a chaotic manner, even hung on walls and shelves, giving the room a bright and colorful look.
How to fluff a feather pillow
A feather pillow has many advantages, however, the naturalness of the composition can lead to harmful microorganisms accumulating and multiplying inside the filler. Therefore, it should be whisked as often as possible as this prevents caking and clumps. If the feathers are very tangled and compressed, they emit an odor, and even washing does not return them to normal, then such a pillow should be replaced. In this case, beating is already powerless.
Caring for padding polyester outerwear
There is an opinion that synthetic filler is afraid of water. But this is not true, because this material is created to protect against moisture. If you are going to wash your outerwear using synthetic padding, choose the right detergent. Bleach, enzymes and other strong chemicals can destroy the structure of insulation fibers .
It is best to choose a special product for clothes with artificial filler. With it, synthetic winterizer items can be washed without fear. How to wash a jacket with padding polyester - by hand or using a washing machine? If you cannot or do not want to take the item to the dry cleaner, it is best to wash it in a machine. When washing by hand, it will be very difficult to remove traces of detergent. They will appear again and again on the fabric after drying. But be careful: the most budget option of padding polyester is held together with glue. It cannot be washed either in a machine or by hand.
The information on the label will tell you which washing mode to choose and what to do with the item afterwards. You need to wash your clothes by turning them inside out and fastening all the zippers and buttons. Particularly dirty areas can be pre-treated with dishwashing detergent or liquid laundry soap. This is best done with a sponge. The most suitable mode is washing synthetics; the water temperature should not be higher than 30 degrees. It is advisable to install an additional rinse. Items on padding polyester cannot be soaked, twisted or wrung out in the washing machine. After washing, lightly wring out the item with your hands and hang it on a trempel or lay it horizontally on a light towel.
When the item is completely dry, it can be ironed through the fabric with minimal heat from the iron.
Do not dry clothes on padding polyester near heating appliances or in direct sun.
The pillow is crumpled, what should I do?
If the sleeping pillow is simply compacted and caked, then you need to grab its sides and make several movements, like an accordion, squeezing and unclenching its filling, while simultaneously kneading it with your hands. If necessary, repeat the process from different sides several times.
If it is crumpled inside into lumps, then the situation can be corrected by combing the filler (down, holofiber, etc.) with hand combs (metal brushes). An example of how to do this in the video below:
How to fluff padding polyester in a pillow
It happens that after washing, the filling made of holofiber or padding polyester can become very loose. In such a situation, you should soak it and gently beat it with your hands, and then send it to dry and beat it again periodically.
You can also try moving the lumps with a vacuum cleaner by running it over the damp surface. As a last resort, you simply need to disassemble and fluff all the fibers of the padding polyester with your hands.
In general, we can say that there is nothing complicated in caring for pillows. It is only important not to forget to whisk it regularly, avoiding the formation of lumps and compactions, otherwise it will be somewhat more difficult to beat the caked material.
