Underwear is a special type of clothing that is in direct contact with the body. When choosing a model, you need to consider not only size, color and style. The main indicator of the safety and comfort of clothing is hygiene. Fabrics for underwear today are produced in different compositions, therefore they differ in properties and purpose.

- 2.2 Artificial

Popular options
Today, different types of textiles are used to produce underwear.
Natural
Linen fabric made from natural fibers is considered the best. This category includes materials made from cotton, linen, silk, and wool.
Their advantages:
- pleasant tactile sensations: the fibers do not prick and do not irritate the skin;
- hygroscopicity: fabrics absorb sweat and secretions, ensuring dry skin and mucous membranes;
- breathable properties: fibers allow air to pass through without interfering with normal ventilation and breathing of the body;
- thermoregulation: do not create a greenhouse effect, adapt to body temperature;
- antistatic: fibers do not accumulate static electricity;
- Easy to care for: easy to wash and bleach.
Important! The main advantage of natural fabrics is safety. Therefore, they are ideal for children, pregnant women, and sick people.
Flaws:
- if not properly cared for, they may shrink or stretch;
- do not provide a tight fit to the body;
- wrinkled a lot.
Reference! Manufacturers, wanting to improve the quality and attractiveness of underwear, introduce synthetic fibers (polyester, elastane, etc.) into the fabric. If the proportion of fibers is 2-5%, then this gives the right to call the materials natural.
Artificial
Today, most of the fabrics from which underwear is made have a mixed composition. Although artificial and synthetic fibers are inferior to natural ones in terms of environmental friendliness, they have other advantages:
- high strength, wear resistance;
- elasticity: the products stretch well, fit perfectly on the body, and are comfortable to wear;
- resistance to dents, shrinkage, stretching;
- durability: synthetic fabrics for underwear can withstand mechanical loads better than natural ones, so they retain their attractive appearance longer;
- ease of care.
Underwear made from synthetic and artificial fibers practically does not cause irritation, is not spoiled by moths, and does not create conditions for the development of pathogenic microorganisms.
Straps
The straps are designed to provide additional support to the cups. Different possibilities for their fixation provide different forms of support: over the shoulder, across the neck, on the back. They are usually made from a special elastic tape of different widths, which depends on the size of the bra. There are two main types of straps.
Elastic
The traditional solution is practical and convenient. Decorated, draped ribbons are used.
Silicone
Clear invisible straps provide the support you need. They are hardly noticeable on the body, so this bra can be combined with different clothes with open shoulders. Silicone does not slip on the body and does not cause irritation that can be caused by synthetic elastic tape.
Materials for women's sets
Underwear can be worn throughout the day or worn on special occasions. Fabrics are selected depending on the purpose of the clothing.
For everyday wear
It is better to choose natural materials for underwear (women's, men's, children's). They are safe and do not cause allergic reactions even in people with hypersensitive bodies:
- cotton or linen with lycra additives: elastic fibers improve fit and make underwear more comfortable;
- cambric: an excellent option for summer and children's models. It allows air to pass through well, does not float, and is weightless on the body. Regular cambric does not last long, so it is better to choose mercerized cambric: it is stronger and more durable, more elegant due to its specific shine;
- cooler: the finest cotton jersey allows air to pass through well, fits the body, and does not restrict movement;
- microfiber: thin elastic textile for seamless underwear.
Reference! Corrective underwear is made from fabrics of a mixed composition: 10-30% is lycra or elastane - fibers that can slim the figure. The remaining components are polyamide or nylon.
Exquisite sets
Lace, mesh, embroidery, tightening inserts, expensive fittings - all this is necessarily present in elegant and erotic models. But still, materials play a decisive role.
