Description
Slim sateen is a type of satin fabric with a characteristic thread weaving technology. The second name is “artificial silk”. This is due to appearance. The finest, flowing material has a specific glossy shine. Has a pleasant tactile sensation.
There are plain canvases and with a pattern. Regardless of the dyeing method, the color is maintained after numerous washes. The front side is shiny and smooth. The reverse is matte, slightly rough.
Difference from other types of satin
The main feature of slim satin is that it consists of 90% cotton. But the remaining 10%, which became the reason for the identification of a new variety, are polyester fibers. Microfiber is a special very thin and light thread.
The weave is regular, satin. Thanks to this, the inherent shine and strength of satin is preserved.
Properties
The material has a set of positive qualities that have increased the popularity of slim-satin products among manufacturers and buyers:
- wear resistance. Resistant to abrasion, mechanical damage, rupture;
- hygroscopicity. Absorption of excess moisture eliminates fogging and skin irritation;
- environmental friendliness. Prevents the development of pathogenic microorganisms;
- safety. Suitable for people with hypersensitivity and allergies;
- practically does not wrinkle. No need to iron after washing;
- light weight;
- ease of care;
- color preservation. Does not fade in direct sunlight;
- noble appearance.
Note! Slim satin is easy to dye and apply patterns, so you can choose a set of linen to suit any interior.
What is slim satin
This is a specialized fabric, for the production of which special thin microfibers are used. The fabric contains polyester threads in an amount of approximately 10% of the total weight, and the rest is cotton. To create the material, a special satin weave is used, which helps the fabric acquire a high level of strength.
Microfiber is a thread whose thickness is less than 1 denier; it is from it that the yarn is formed to create sim satin.
This is interesting : the thread is particularly thin and light, so with a length of 100 thousand meters it weighs only 6 grams.
Products made from this material are lightweight and thin, while the level of strength is quite high. A special weaving technology allows you to create a material that is resistant to external influences. Therefore, it is used to create practical textiles and looks great as bedding sets. The price range of PCBs made from this material is distinguished by its availability.
Areas of use
Despite the large number of advantages, the use of matter is narrowly targeted. Mostly bed linen is made from slim satin. The area of application was not chosen by chance. Hypoallergenic, durable, unusually lightweight material is optimal for creating home textiles.
Suitable for arranging sleeping places for adults and children. The fabrics maintain a comfortable microclimate and promote relaxation. Despite the smoothness and gloss of the surface, a sleeping person does not slide off the bed (which is typical for silk).
Absorbs sweat well, so the appearance of rashes is excluded even on sensitive skin.
For information! The main criterion used by manufacturers is wrinkle resistance. All you need to do is shake things up to restore their attractive look.
Advantages and disadvantages
Slim-satin is a relatively new material, which has already become a favorite among many consumers for its softness, hypoallergenicity and comfort of use. However, these are far from the only positive qualities of the mixed fabric.
Pros:
- hygroscopicity;
- crease resistance;
- hypoallergenic;
- durability;
- strength;
- wear resistance;
- ease of care;
- saturation and richness of the color palette;
- ease.
Minuses:
- Poplin or satin, which is better for bed linen?
- the fabric may shrink if improperly washed;
- There are difficulties in working with the material.
This type of textile is considered a safe fabric, since slim satin does not emit toxic fumes and does not cause irritation or allergic reactions when it comes into contact even with sensitive skin.
How to wash and iron products
Slin-satin does not require special care. To maintain the quality of the material declared by the manufacturer for as long as possible, it is recommended to follow the rules.
