The arrival of cold weather forces residents of private houses to spend large sums on heating, but you can avoid unnecessary investments if you insulate the room. Most people prefer well-known thermal insulation materials - mineral wool, polystyrene foam, ecowool, polyurethane foam.
But there are more interesting options. For example, holofiber insulation, more often used for other purposes, is in no way inferior to recognized materials in quality, and its thermal insulation parameters are comparable to those of well-known cotton wool, polystyrene foam and polyurethane.
How to prepare Holofiber insulation and sound insulation for installation?
Before installation of Hollofiber® Stroy products, the previous and preparatory work on the load-bearing elements of the fence should be completed.
If the insulation is evacuated for economical transportation, then the top packaging must be opened at least 72 hours before installation.
The sizes of rolls and slabs for heat and sound insulation of walls, floors and roofs must be selected taking into account design solutions: the type of load-bearing structures, the presence and pitch between frame posts, and other parameters.
To cut Holofiber Stroy rolls, knives and scissors are used; more efficiently, garden shears and pruning shears are used. When using denser products, such as Holofiber Acoustic, or a large volume of materials, it is recommended to use cutting knives.
How to attach Holofiber to load-bearing elements?
For fastening to wooden structures, construction staplers are used; for large volumes of work, pneumatic and electric staplers are used.
For fastening to a vertical or inclined insulated surface, it is recommended to use modern fast-acting adhesives, adhesive sprays, and aerosol adhesives. Choose glue with an environmentally neutral composition. This method is suitable for almost any surface - wood, concrete, brick, metal, plastic, drywall, etc.
It is also recommended to use disc-shaped dowels, so-called “fungi” for thermal insulation.
To attach the Hollofiber Stroy material to suspended awning fencing formed by load-bearing spatial frames, it is effective to use contact tapes, popularly known as “Velcro.” The combination of awning panels with the lightest Hollofiber Stroy products attached with Velcro is the best option for covering large spaces.
Vacuumation or how to save on insulation delivery?
Insulation, by its specificity, is not heavy, but it is a large-sized product. To reduce your transportation costs and storage space, we have the ability to vacuum all roll products in our production. The exception is ACOUSTIC holofiber, produced in slabs.
Vacuuming allows you to reduce the initial volume of packaging by 30-40% and reduces transportation costs by approximately the same amount. For our clients, vacuuming is an absolutely free service; you just need to tell the manager about it when placing an order.

Expert warning!!!
1) Due to the fact that this insulation (holofiber) is a completely artificial material, its use is strictly limited. It (holofiber) can be used as inter-crown insulation in wooden houses and bathhouses during construction from dry (force-dried) logs and timber. Typically, in the construction of wooden houses, dry timber can only be called laminated timber, made from forced-dried lamellas.
2) For wooden houses and bathhouses made of timber with natural humidity, it is best to use natural inter-crown materials - seals made of jute or flax. It is also recommended to lay logs and beams of natural moisture with natural forest material - cuckoo flax moss or sphagnum moss.
Photo: for assembling houses and bathhouses from logs of natural moisture (not force-dried), it is best to use inter-crown jute tape - 100 percent natural insulation.
Photo: for assembling houses and bathhouses from logs of natural moisture (not force-dried), it would also be a good choice to use cuckoo flax moss to line the logs and beams.
Features of holofiber production
The basis of the material is polyester - a non-toxic type of synthetic fabric made from polyester fibers. Holofiber is known as a filler for outerwear, furniture and sleeping accessories (pillows, blankets), but is also used for insulating private homes.
The material is produced by thermal bonding of fibers. The method is safe because no glue, chemicals or other harmful substances are used in the production of holofiber. Polyester fiber is heated (temperature is 180-200 degrees), due to which the shrinkage of components is reduced.
Using holofiber as inter-crown insulation
This material is an excellent solution for insulating wooden buildings made of logs or timber.
Moreover, it is not only an excellent alternative to traditional materials such as jute and flax, but is also ahead of them in a number of characteristics:
- Under load, such a heat insulator can shrink to zero and, when the beam warps, recover, filling the cracks.
- Doesn't need caulking.
- Does not absorb atmospheric moisture.
- Does not require seam sealing.
- Resistant to mold and mildew.
Holofiber used as inter-crown insulation.
Can be used for insulating houses built from the following materials:
- Sawn timber.
- Glued laminated timber.
- Profiled timber.
- Rounded log.
- Ordinary log house.
Two types of material can be used as inter-crown insulation:
- Canvases supplied to the market in rolls.
- Layers that are somewhat stiffer than canvas, hence their other name - hard.
The choice of one or another type of holofiber may be due to a number of reasons, among which are the characteristics of the wood, the configuration and cross-section of the timber, and the functionality of the building (bathhouse, residential building or garage). Any hardware store will provide you with a good selection of varieties of this material.
In order for the insulation to be especially reliable, you should use holofiber with a density of 300 g m or higher. This material is intended for cold winters with average air temperatures reaching -30 degrees.
Types of thermal insulation material
The owner of the trademark and the only manufacturer of holofiber is the TermoPol - Moscow nonwoven materials plant. They produce insulation in three designs:
For insulation of buildings, the last type of thermal insulation is of interest, since the first two are not suitable due to their geometric features.
According to purpose, holofiber is divided into the following groups:
- “PAFS” (material in the form of balls) - used for filling toys for children or pets, blankets, pillows, decorative interior elements in upholstered furniture;
- “SOFT” and “TEK” (insulation for clothing) - supplied in rolls of small thickness;
- “STROY” (construction holofiber) - thickened sheets/mats that serve as heat or sound insulation during the construction of new houses, reconstruction of old ones, as well as to improve the performance characteristics of existing buildings;
- “MEDIUM” and “HARD” (furniture) - dense, thick filler for mattresses, soft interior items, which perfectly retains its shape;
- “VOLUMETRIC” (forming holofiber) is a voluminous material that gives shape to decorative products.
"Holofiber - STROY" is the only thermal insulation group suitable for insulating buildings. Like any other material, it has its pros and cons.

Lately, many Muscovites are starting to get fed up with their neighbors’ constant renovations, the noise of city streets, and the sun invisible behind the smog. They have only one way out - to leave the city and move to live in the region. So, the land has been purchased, it’s time to start building a house. But first you need to decide what kind of house to build? Wooden or stone? What type? What are their pros and cons? We tried to figure out what is better: wood or brick. To do this, we turned to the engineer-architect Nikolay Dyachenko, who has extensive experience in building country houses in the Moscow region.
“What kind of house to build - from wood or stone or from a combination of both - is a matter of taste and disposition of this or that person. There are advantages, as well as disadvantages, everywhere. The complex of pros and cons is important. Each case is different, however, I prefer wooden houses. In general, I noticed that people who build wooden houses are different from those who build stone ones. In one word, these people are “a little”: a little calmer, a little more balanced, a little more natural, a little more democratic, promising and stable in their profession, usually with a high educational level and professions that require effective “clearing of the head” and quick healthy recovery your emotional and physical state after a working week.
People living in wooden houses are people who do not repeat the word “ecology” as a common epithet, they simply make ecology a part of their life and the life of their future generation. And the result is noticeable. So in a wooden house a person gets enough sleep in seven hours, but in a stone house it will take more than ten. This is a completely different environmental resistance. When you arrive at a wooden house, the transition from the aggressive pace of the city to the meditative atmosphere of calm occurs almost instantly. Wood is a material that can take into account a person’s mood. It is also worth noting that the tree has the property of self-cleaning. This process has not been fully studied. Twice a year there is a change in the pressure vector between the environments house-street, street-house. During one season, fumes and carcinogens try to enter the house, during another, all this is squeezed out. The tree pulsates because it is in a stable, familiar, natural environment.
In general, it is worth noting that high-quality wooden houses are among the most expensive in the world. Building a stone house is a difficult task, but wealthy people do it. Moreover, a stone house is different from a stone house: one can be built from solid red brick with expensive finishing, and the other from foam block trimmed with clinker tiles. The interior decoration of a stone house can be as expensive as you like, even from gold leaf, but this has an indirect relation to construction.
To build a truly good wooden house, you need to use all the components of a high level: wood with a low level of annual growth, glue from one of the two world companies (if it is a house made of laminated veneer lumber), good quality wooden windows, modern class floor beams (most often this is LVL timber and also the only plant in Russia), high-class insulation “Holofiber”.
Everyone knows that in winter a stone house actually “freezes” and steam begins to destroy the interior decoration. The environment of a stone house becomes uninhabitable. And a wooden house, in principle, can remain without heating for as long as desired if its structure contains thermal insulation materials that are not capable of absorbing and retaining moisture, for example, Holofiber.
This is a material that doesn’t care how long it “floats in water” or steam. If you dry it, it will look and smell exactly the same within a day as before. By the way, since we are talking about insulation, and the question was about the flammability of the house, it melts during combustion, has a limited ability to spread flame, and this affects the fire resistance of the entire structure. For example, if it snows during construction, then just shake the Holofiber and it can already be laid in the ceilings, in the inter-crown beams. This is very important, since houses made of laminated veneer lumber are built mainly on winter forests. This is due to the cessation of tree growth. Autumn growth cessation begins in the north in mid-October, in the middle zone closer to mid-November. But snow and rain can interfere with construction. In practice, it is unrealistic to require craftsmen to build a crown and then, at the end of a difficult shift, cover it with film so that night rains or snow do not fall on the top edge. And with the construction of the second floor, strong winds also make the task difficult to accomplish. A big problem arises with the insulation installed in the roof getting wet. So, wet traditional thermal insulators will smell after construction is completed.
Holofiber can be laid on an unprotected wood surface. It has a high degree of non-hygroscopicity - 95–99%. This means that practically no moisture gets on the material; just shake it and you can install the next crown. After installing the two upper crowns, residual moisture is squeezed out of the third lower crown. In addition, it is much cheaper than wool and synthetic material. In this case, the properties of both sets, for example, airflow, will be approximately equal. “Holofiber” is a very light material, so work with it on floors can be carried out without cranes and winches. The frame beam allows you to use the voids in it, into which wires are installed, and the pipeline and heating system are laid there. Then these cavities are filled with Holofiber material. We can use not only the thermal insulation properties of Holofiber materials, but also sound insulation properties.
Holofiber is very easy to control on sites. It is impossible to write off this material as a battle, as a short supply, as spoiled material. Difficult to steal. It is rare and visible in any installation. The roll is difficult to hide, it is quite large. And always visible. There is practically no thermal insulation material that has the color of freshly fallen snow. It is the emergence of new Holofiber insulation materials that largely explains the growth in popularity and availability of wooden houses.

Advantages and disadvantages of construction holofiber
The big advantage of the material is its wide range of applications. Speaking specifically about the construction type of thermal insulation, the advantages of use are:
environmental safety - confirmed by the presence of the EcoTex Standard 100 certificate, which means top-class trust;
- holofiber does not cause allergic reactions, is harmless to adults, children and animals;
- resistance to cyclic mechanical stress - the spiral structure of the fibers allows you to maintain the shape and avoid large residual deformations;
- low hygroscopicity - the material does not absorb moisture and unpleasant odors;
- wear resistance;
- a wide range of insulation materials depending on density (from 0.06 to 4 kg/cubic m);
- Holofiber holds temperature well;
- limited ability to spread fire;
- the lightness of the material makes it easy to install or transport;
- in addition to thermal insulation, it serves as an excellent sound absorber;
- the ability to work with insulation without additional protection (gloves, overalls, glasses);
- the material does not shrink.
The list of advantages inspires confidence, but the material is also not without its disadvantages. First of all, they are associated with a lack of knowledge about holofiber as a construction insulation material, as well as a lack of information about its durability. Not so long ago, the material began to be used as thermal insulation of building structures, so there is no accurate data on the maximum service life and a number of measured parameters. Another disadvantage is the difficulty of purchasing insulation in bulk - there are not yet many publicly accessible retail outlets.

Material Specifications
Holofiber is an effective insulation material, that is, it has a thermal conductivity coefficient of less than 0.04 W/m*K. This indicator was experimentally calculated when studying a sample of the “1000” brand and was:
- 0.035 W/m*K dry;
- 0.04 W/m*K when used in an external building envelope.
Other precisely defined parameters include:
- water absorption by volume - up to 1%;
- noise insulation coefficient - 0.2-0.98;
- possibility of operation at temperatures from −60 to +40 degrees;
- service life - from 10 years.
During testing of holofiber for interaction with fire, it was found that it is superior to a number of analogues. The material melts, but does not emit burning, soot, or acrid smoke, and the polyester base cokes. Basalt and glass wool are close in fire resistance to holofiber, but when installing the latter, the consumer will experience much more difficulties.
The properties are confirmed by a quality certificate according to the European standard EN 533, which opens up wide possibilities for the insulation.
