The most commonly found synthetic silks are viscose.
- Mohair is made from the hair of the Angora goat. It is similar to wool, but differs in the presence of shine.
Different types of woven weaves also influence the choice of model and style of dress:
- Deformation: longitudinal (up and down) threads. Typically, the best fabrics are “double-ply,” which means the single fibers are 2 strands twisted together.
- Weft: Cross (from left to right) yarn of fabric. The outer fabrics are woven in a 2 by 2 format, and the warp and weft threads are double-layered. Such materials are considered more durable.
- Simple weaves - using a simple top and bottom pattern in which the threads are arranged vertically or horizontally.
- Bedford Cord – This resembles corduroy, but with a less pronounced rip (“shaft” refers to the ridges characteristic of corduroy clothing).
- Bird's eye is a continuous weave that creates tiny dots that resemble a bird's eye. The overall effect is to be seen only up close. Dresses made from bird's eye fabric are suitable for creating a summer look. It is not hot in them, and they do not interfere with the aesthetic appearance.
Wool, flannel and twill are winter fabrics that are ideal for sewing a long dress.
Length
Length – the hem line is a few cm below the knee or slightly above it. Anything shorter than this takes away from the lady's silhouette. The same applies to the mid-calf hems.
A short
The length is determined by the edging, which is located 2-4 cm above the knee. This style successfully describes a fashionable, elegant look, and can also be made in the style of an office outfit. Short dresses are combined with a clutch and high- and low-heeled shoes.
Plain short dresses can be worn with sneakers and loafers if they are cut according to the cut of office clothes. The look can be completed with a backpack or small shoulder bag. A plain guipure dress is suitable for going out. An evening dress requires you to complement your outfit with accessories.
Fashionable dresses made of dense fabric of short length can be combined with any accessories and shoes. As a rule, this is a business suit that has a cutout, a slit in the back or side. The dress with undercuts emphasizes the waist and width of the hips. It cannot be combined with loose-fitting clothes.
Dresses made of knitted fabric, as in the photo on the right, can have symmetrical patterns that emphasize the features of the figure. Due to the softness of the material, you can transform the contour of the body, hide defects and imperfections.
Below the knee
A below-the-knee pencil dress can be classic or casual, made of stretch material with a sporty cut:
- In the first case, this is a strictly cut model - a clear neckline without a collar, cut to the waist and figure, straight length without frills. This is an example of a business attire that can only be worn with heels and an elegant bag.
- In another case, a dress made of knitted or soft fabric (wool, viscose) is combined with another wardrobe - a thick scarf, loose outerwear, sports shoes or low-top shoes.
- Business style dresses can be complemented with a stand-up collar, peplum and a slit of no more than 7 cm.
The classic version of the business style is a straight silhouette that fits perfectly to the figure. Clothes can be complemented with ¾ or full length arms. In such variations, single-color or two-color colors are acceptable.
