Beautiful and unusual DIY gift wrapping (94 photos)

Many people are tormented by the question: Do they give bed linen as a gift? On the one hand, this is a practical and useful gift that will be needed in any home, but on the other hand, the item is too intimate, and it is so easy not to please the taste of the owner of the house in this regard.

You can donate bed linen for several reasons:

  • Everyone uses bedding, which means that your gift will most likely not gather dust on the shelves of closets, but will go into use.
  • Luxurious bedding will appeal to everyone, regardless of gender - both men and women.
  • High-quality bed linen never goes out of style, so this gift is timeless.
  • Bedding is used every night. What was the last gift you were given that you used with equal regularity?
  • Good bedding will provide comfort for years and decades.

Gift from bed linen

At first glance, gift bedding sets may seem like an odd choice for a gift, but such a gift will certainly be appreciated by those to whom you decide to give it. And while gifting bedding isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think of gifts, for most people a gift bedspread or gift bedding sets will make a stunning home companion.

When giving a gift, you definitely want to give something that the recipient will enjoy for as long as possible, on a regular basis. Also, take note of the fact that although most people have several sets of underwear, these are not textiles that are changed once a season or even once a year. It’s the same with bedspreads - they are never superfluous in the house, you can keep several of them for a shift, you can use them on a bed, sofa, armchairs, and so on. That is why gift bedspreads and bed linens are a practical and thoughtful gift.

You don’t know how to please your loved ones: give them a blanket

And I had three skeins (types of yarn) that were “unnecessary”, and I decided to use them, but none of them were used somehow. And then suddenly, guests arrived.

And it’s not like they’re guests, but relatives, but when you don’t see each other for a long time and don’t know everyone’s tastes and preferences.

That’s how the idea for the blanket came about. And what? There are also those in our circle whom you don’t know how to please. what to give, and everything is there and you need to give something.

So I decided for myself: to give blankets. In cool moments between heating seasons, or just to sit and take refuge in front of the TV, etc.

And just like in the movies, you can make a blanket with tassels, but I didn’t have enough time and spirit for them.

This is how it turned out. knits sporko (that’s what my grandmother said), i.e. fast. The threads are of medium thickness, I tried 2 threads, it was very thick.

You need to experiment with yarn, and with patterns too. It should not be rough, but also not very holey, although there are also such thin blankets made of thin mohair or very fine yarn, but more on that another time.

I chose the “Check” pattern: dc+ch+dc. And the blanket was not thick, but not thin either. Size 160*110. It fell a little short of the standard 160*130, everything fit within the time frame.

Well, the coloring came about spontaneously.

Sometimes you can’t find a color for a day or even a week... And I don’t have time. I don’t feel like sorting out the yarn for large items.

So it came out impromptu. Of course, she didn’t discover America. But as an option it’s very good. And beautiful and fast. You can buy more expensive yarn, or try anti-pilling acrylic. Here you will need a flight of your imagination and the amount of money.

Well, here is the yarn I used:

Who should give a blanket or bed linen as a gift?

As a rule, bed linen is a universal gift; the main thing is to choose the right design. Such a gift will appeal to people of all ages, any gender, status, and so on. Here are the two most popular reasons for which bed linen is usually given as a gift:

  • Wedding is one of the most popular occasions that motivate people to give a wedding blanket. Bed linen is also given as a gift for a wedding, because the newlyweds probably wouldn’t mind using home textiles and would come in handy. That is why a beautiful set of high-quality linen is something that will take its rightful place in the newlyweds’ home.
  • Moving - such an event is often associated with changes in life, with a thirst for renewal. So why not freshen up your bedroom interior with a colorful bedding set or an interesting throw?

If you've been struggling to find the right gift for someone in your life, think about the benefits they could get from a new bedding set. There's a good chance this could be a gift that gets used more often than any other.

Bows and ribbons

You can give a loved one a festive mood by decorating the gift with a bright ribbon or even a bow. You can make the decoration yourself by purchasing ribbon of a suitable tone from an office supply store. It will be easy to wrap the box using ribbon made in bright or soothing colors.

How to pack a blanket as a gift?

How to beautifully wrap a blanket as a gift? In reality, there are many ways to give a blanket as a gift.

You've prepared a beautiful blanket (or maybe even made it yourself) for your loved one, and now it's time to present it as a gift. You've finished the hard work of choosing the right combination of colors and patterns on the fabric. You have chosen a design that is attractive and fits well with the recipient's personality and tastes. Now you are ready to give it to your loved one. Part of the joy of receiving a gift is the anticipation and unwrapping. A properly wrapped gift provides a positive experience for the recipient even before the gift is unwrapped.

It's easy to be modest and just present the blanket to the recipient. After all, the blanket is large and bulky and difficult to fit into a gift bag. You will need a lot of wrapping paper for wrapping.

Method 1: vacuum bags

An excellent device for storing various things is a vacuum bag. It is made of transparent material and equipped with a hole with a valve through which excess air is squeezed out. The valve is round, which means you can use the vacuum cleaner without an attachment.

You will be surprised how much smaller blankets and pillows become when placed in a vacuum bag. This is the best way to store bedding compactly. Place the vacuum bags in a stack in the closet, and if necessary, remove the item you need. The transparent bag will allow you to quickly find it.

How to give a blanket as a gift?

Placing the blanket in a box with pretty paper is a standard way to give a gift. Even a large blanket can be wrapped in a large box. Hiding the cover in another gift such as luggage or a chest is a great way to add an element of surprise.

Packing the blanket is important, but presentation is also important. The blanket should have a label so that future owners know who made the blanket. A gift card is also a necessary part of the gift. This will provide a reminder of the precious gift and show its importance.

How to pack a blanket beautifully?

Getting to know a gift begins with its packaging. Interestingly decorated items acquire even greater value in the eyes of the recipient, and the very moment of presenting such a gift is remembered for a long time. A warm woolen blanket is a wonderful gift that will bring both benefit and joy, but it requires special packaging, since this item is non-standard. There are several ways to pack it: in craft paper or a basket, make a “candy” or a big heart tied with a satin ribbon, and also purchase a convenient and practical suitcase for the gift. Take a closer look at all these methods to choose the best packaging for your gift.

Heart decorated with satin ribbon

We offer step-by-step instructions on how to beautifully decorate a blanket for a gift with your own hands. First, fold it into a narrow strip, folding it several times along its length. On both sides, fold the blanket towards the center, and then secure the resulting “heart” with a beautiful wide ribbon. To give your gift a festive look, attach a flower to one side of the heart. This option is suitable for a home gift that will perfectly express warm feelings for a loved one. And if you need to transport a blanket, then use several more methods, which we will discuss in this article.

More ways to pack surprises

Here are ways to beautifully wrap a gift that will be useful to you at all times.

These simple packaging options exist. Next, we’ll tell you how to design a shapeless gift.

Making a gift in craft paper

One of the most popular materials for wrapping any gifts is craft paper. Compared to decorative types of paper, it looks solid and leaves many options for external design. Kraft is a dense fabric that practically does not tear, so the blanket packed in it will be reliably preserved. Craft paper is breathable and hygroscopic, so this material is considered an ideal option for wrapping a blanket. It will protect it from dampness and allow the material to “breathe”.

The main shades of paper are brown, yellowish and white. A great way to decorate a gift is to stick photos or beautiful cards intended for the recipient on top of the package. A gift decorated with care and love will become even more valuable. Additionally, you can write warm wishes to the birthday boy or hero of the day. But the possibilities of decorating a gift wrapped in craft paper are not limited to this. Sweets, decorative ribbons, sprigs of pine needles and funny drawings are often used.

Decor options

To make the packaging look more beautiful, you can further decorate it with your own hands. For this purpose, various decorative items are used.

Photos and postcards

To decorate gift packaging with bed linen, you can use any photographs, pictures and even magazine clippings. The main thing is that they fit the theme of the gift. Printed photographs of people together are best suited for decorating a gift, because they make it more individual.

Natural materials

Nowadays natural jewelry is also highly valued. To decorate the packaging, you can use cones, fir branches, nuts or beautiful wooden figures. This decoration will look beautiful against a background of craft paper tied with twine. Decorating such packaging will be especially interesting with children.

Tags

You can complement the gift using themed tags. You can make them yourself. Tags are easy to print on a printer. In addition, they can be cut from artificially aged paper. This addition will look very stylish.

Fragrant decor

To make a gift please a person not only with its appearance, but also with its aroma, the traditional bow can be replaced with a sprig of dried flowers, for example, lavender. It can be easily secured with double-sided tape or a nice ribbon. You can also use cinnamon sprigs or even fir branches to decorate the packaging.

The choice of decor for such a gift depends on the tastes of the person to whom it is given, as well as the status of the event.

Packing a gift in a beautiful basket

One of the best ideas for decorating a luxurious present for the hero of the occasion is an attractive basket, which is a universal packaging. You can put a blanket on the bottom, and on top - other things that will please your loved one, for example, chocolate, fruits and a box of chocolates, toys and a cartoon CD for a child, cosmetics and perfume for a girl. When unpacking a gift, the recipient will be pleasantly surprised to find a warm and cozy blanket inside.

The range of gift baskets is very large, they all differ in design and materials; You can always choose a budget or expensive option. A rectangular basket is suitable for a blanket; in this case, it will be more convenient to fold the gift. Place additional gifts on top if desired, and then wrap everything in cellophane. This is a great way to decorate a gift for any occasion, but especially for special occasions: a birthday or an anniversary.

Original packaging in the form of candy

This design option is perfect for a gift to a child or a romantic girl. Making a large “candy” out of a blanket is not difficult, you just need to stock up on a few materials:

  • large sheet of cardboard;
  • beautiful wrapping paper;
  • clear tape and two pieces of raffia.

At the first stage of work, you need to roll a cylinder out of a blanket. To do this, the blanket is folded in half its length and then rolled up into a roll. Then it needs to be wrapped in a sheet of cardboard and secured with tape; the short sides remain open. Now wrap the roll with beautiful colored paper on top and also secure it with transparent tape, tie it around the edges with raffia. The big “candy” is ready to be presented and it will surely surprise the gift recipient!

Creative dialogue

Who gets more pleasure: the one who wraps or the one who unwraps? “When packaging, we rejoice that we are doing something with our own hands, and we also fantasize about the reaction of the person who will receive our work,” says psychoanalytic psychotherapist Svetlana Fedorova. “We may also like the fact that a person will receive two gifts.” For Lisa, each of her loved ones is special; she thinks through the packaging in advance, looking for the most accurate (specifically for this person) words. In this search, she also reveals herself: her character traits (a perfectionist, likes to do everything perfectly), professional pleasure (she is a journalist) and even her political views (headlines always have subtext). But 28-year-old Marina plays on the variety of textures of packaging materials. “Depending on who I want to give the gift to, I choose silk paper, craft paper, glitter, matte or glossy...” she says. — The choice is never random. For my husband, for example, I look for something too much - too thick or too thin paper, very bright or completely white. This person does nothing by halves, always goes to the end and prefers excess to mediocrity. I find the packaging to match its extremes. This ritual has turned into a kind of game between us: he can’t stand it and a few days before the holiday he always asks, laughing, what else I came up with…”

Packing a blanket in a convenient suitcase

Finding a box or a suitable gift bag is not an easy task and requires some effort and time. To make searching for packaging easier, we offer our customers to purchase a practical suitcase made of flexible transparent plastic along with the blanket. Thus, you receive a ready-made gift that looks very stylish and will definitely please your loved one.

Now you don't have to worry about how to wrap your gift. Order from us a convenient suitcase that will be the solution to all your problems. This package features a handle for easy carrying and a two-way zipper closure. You can decorate a “blanket in a suitcase” gift both inside and outside. For example, you can decorate the top of the suitcase with a beautiful satin ribbon or a ready-made flower, thus giving your gift a festive and solemn look.

You can put a postcard, a chocolate bar or a box of chocolates in a suitcase with a blanket, or tie the blanket inside with a beautiful satin ribbon. All these simple and cute additions will be visible in a transparent suitcase and will further decorate your gift.

A blanket or bedding set is a very popular and useful gift. There is no shame in giving expensive bedding accessories for a wedding or anniversary; both a friend and a colleague will appreciate high-quality linen. However, not only the gift itself is important, but also its packaging, because this is what the recipient sees first. How to pack vacation supplies beautifully and unusually?

What nuances should you remember when packing bed linen or a blanket?

There is a significant difference between a blanket and a set of bed linen: the first is placed on top of the bed, the second is in direct contact with the human body. Of course, it is unlikely that anyone will sleep on underwear that has not been washed after purchase or as a gift; however, before packing it is better to wrap the underwear in film or put it in a transparent plastic bag.

Another difference is that the bedspread generally does not have a rigid backing when factory packaged, while the linen is packaged on a cardboard backing. For this reason, the first one can be folded in any way. Is it worth unfolding and refolding bedding accessories?

DIY packaging options with step-by-step instructions

In most cases, the items in question are factory-made and packaged in plastic grippers, zipper bags or beautiful boxes with branding. In this case, you can give a gift by adding a ribbon and a card.

However, what if there is no factory packaging or the gift is made by yourself? They will come to the rescue:

  • wrapping paper with a suitable pattern;
  • homemade box;
  • handmade package;
  • ribbons, beads, etc.;
  • your own imagination and love for the recipient of the gift.

Wrapping

To make a gift look original, just choose the right wrapping paper and appropriate accessories. For example, if the recipient of the gift remembers the times of the USSR, or this era is of interest to him, you can use kraft paper (technical, light or dark brown, thick), jute twine and sealing wax. How to pack:

  1. cut a sheet of paper 2.5 times longer than the widest part of the folded gift;
  2. place the gift diagonally on the paper so that from any corner to the edge of the paper there is a distance equal to or greater than the height of the object plus 3 cm;
  3. wrap the item, starting from the corner, tuck the edge of the paper under the top of the package;
  4. tie the bundle with jute: place the gift on the spread twine, cross the twine over it, pull it, turn the bundle over, cross it again, threading the ends under the stretched thread, and tie tightly with a bow;
  5. cut the ends of the rope, fold them together, pour in a little melted sealing wax and press it with a seal.

Instead of craft paper, you can use any other paper, even newspaper (preferably made of thick paper) will do. Everything you need can be purchased online, but you need to take care of this in advance.

Another option involves rolling the gift into a cube shape. In this case, the gift is placed in the middle of a square sheet of paper, its ends are gathered together and tied together with a small piece of thin wire, the ends of which are tightly twisted. A satin bow is tied on top. You can give it!

Handmade box

You can make the box yourself using the standard diagram shown in the photo.

The advantage of this packaging is that it is made to individual sizes. Algorithm of actions:

  1. measure the width, height and length of the gift and make a template;
  2. take a sheet of cardboard (not corrugated), cut the blank according to the template;
  3. run the back of the knife along the fold lines;
  4. carefully bend the workpiece;
  5. glue the box.

Not every glue is good when working with thick cardboard. Thick construction PVA or “Moment” is best suited. For reliability, you can use double-sided tape or a stapler.

Before assembling the box, you can cover it with beautiful paper or fabric. In the latter case, cotton or patchwork fabric is preferable; Moment Crystal or polymer glue is suitable.

DIY gift bag

The gift bag is made from the same wrapping paper. It is advisable to take paper, since foil materials do not adhere well. The photo shows a template that you should use.

Another option is to use fabric. Burlap and jute look original, but to wrap a gift for a lover of elegant things, you can make a bag from organza or even brocade. There is no doubt that not only the gift, but also its packaging will serve its recipient.

Of course, the parts of the fabric bag are not glued together, but stitched, and not necessarily with a machine seam. Coarse fabric can be crocheted, thin fabric can be finished with an overcast stitch using a beautiful thread along the front side.

Other packaging options

Bed linen can be arranged in the form of... a bed. Place a duvet cover and pillowcases tightly on the bottom of the “bed” box, cover everything with a folded sheet (it acts as a blanket, since it is thinner than a duvet cover and is easier to fold as needed) and bend the edge. Place in a transparent bag and cover with a lid with a pre-cut window, leaving 2–2.5 cm around the perimeter.

You can do without wrapping paper and without a gift box. A blanket (thin, for example, made of fleece) does not need to be packed, but folded in an unusual way. For example, make a snail out of it. Step-by-step instruction:

  1. roll the blanket into a tube;
  2. on one side, insert a piece of aluminum wire equal in length to the base and “neck” of the future snail;
  3. roll the pipe in a spiral, grabbing two layers in several places with a bright narrow ribbon that matches the color, leaving the “neck” unrolled;
  4. bend the edge with the wire, grab part of it with tape, pulling it towards the “sink”, bend the rest in the other direction;
  5. tuck the edge of the pipe, forming a head, and secure it with tape;
  6. Attach eyes to the “head” of the snail and put on a headband with antennae.

Fabric packaging for books

A great idea for wrapping a gift in the form of a book can be not only the use of paper, but also the use of all kinds of fabrics. This is the material most often used to wrap gifts in Eastern culture. Even in ancient times, oriental craftsmen decorated valuable objects in this way for convenient transportation over long distances.

How to pack a book with fabric? You can create attractive packaging using the ancient Japanese technique of furoshiki. To do this, use a small piece of fabric or material from old clothing.

According to the technique, the book must be wrapped in a square piece of material, tying the free edges with a knot at the top of the package. In this case, the most original appearance of the gift can be achieved thanks to cotton fabrics. Alternatively, you can use the sleeve of an old woolen sweater and decorate it as a makeshift book cover.

Decorating gift packaging

How to decorate gift wrapping depends on the characteristics of the recipient, the imagination of the donor and his relationship with the recipient. For example, a set of linen intended for a needlewoman can be put in a fabric bag, fold the top, make 2 through holes, attach a large button on the front side (you can make it yourself) so that the holes in it coincide with the holes, thread the ribbon and tie it with a bow or a simple knot, letting the ends hang freely.

Instead of a wax seal, an individually wrapped condom can be glued on top of a set of bed linen wrapped in paper intended for a single man. Of course, such decor is acceptable if the nature of the relationship allows it.

In any case, when decorating a wrapped gift, you need to consider:

  • interests of the gift recipient;

The material from which the packaging is made

Packaging comes in the following types:

PVC material is the cheapest option and the most practical. Has a number of advantages:

Spunbond bag.

The material is completely synthetic, soft, easy to recycle. Can be made from recycled materials. For the manufacture of bags, material with a density of 60 g/m2 to 120 g/m is used. Bags can be laminated to provide full printing of matte and glossy designs. Bags can be decorated. Make appliqués, pockets, zippers and fasteners. You can make gift wrapping.

Cardboard packaging.

Cardboard is made with additional additives from cellulose sulfate, wood with coarse and hard fibers. Cardboard can have a thickness of 0.2-5 mm and a weight of 150g/1m². It also does not electrify, is able to absorb moisture, and is resistant to deformation. Designer cardboard is used to make boxes for bed linen.
