DIY crafts from old tulle

Candlesticks

Old lace tulle makes beautiful interior candlesticks that bring coziness to any room.
And everything they need is definitely available in every home. To create this decor you will need a couple of small jars and several pieces of tulle. To decorate them, it is better to use glue that can withstand high temperatures.

Vintage tablecloth

If tulle doesn’t look very good on the windows, then this is not a reason to throw it in the trash. It can be washed well, bleached and used as an original tablecloth. True, it would not be appropriate in a modern interior, but it would be ideal for a country house.

If the tulle is too transparent, then to make it look harmonious, I recommend laying a plain tablecloth underneath in calm pastel shades. Another option is to make a table runner out of a small strip of tulle and linen.

Bedspread ideas for the bedroom

We can see an endless selection of bedspreads in textile stores, but a DIY bedspread will always delight you and attract the views of your household and your guests. So don’t be afraid and try to make your ideas come true.

Selecting a bedspread model

The choice of bedspread model should be approached very responsibly. After all, the final result depends on the correctness of this decision. At the stage of choosing a bedspread model, first of all, you should rely on your taste. But at the same time, you should not neglect the style and overall color scheme of the room.

The design of the bedroom and individual decorative elements should be harmoniously combined and complement each other. If your interior has a lot of small elements and decorations, then it is better to opt for a simple option without complicated decoration. Conversely, a simple and laconic interior will be perfectly complemented by a bedspread with drawings and other visual means.

How to decide on the color of the bedspread

The color of the bedspread directly depends on what mood you want to convey with the design of the bedroom as a whole. If the room is dominated by cold tones, then to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere, the bedspread should be sewn in the same color scheme: blue, dark blue, chocolate, beige shades will perfectly complement such an interior.

Warm and bright colors are suitable for the bedroom in shades of pink, orange, green, creating a playful and positive mood.

Contrasting solutions are also good: it will look like an interesting design idea that will always be in fashion. And if you are not yet bold enough for unexpected color combinations, then it is better not to take risks and give preference to proven classic options.

When choosing a color, the size of the bed also matters. If the room itself is small and the bed is large, then there is no need to make a bright accent: this will visually make the space seem even smaller.

The degree of illumination in the room affects the choice of fabric shades: it is better to dilute a dim room with light colors.

If you want to add some zest to your interior, then pay attention to fabrics with patterns and ornaments. Bright and unusual textiles will add variety and sophistication. When choosing silk and fabrics with a shiny structure, remember: they are appropriate only in large and spacious rooms. For cozy and small bedrooms, denser and matte textures are suitable.

Chair covers

If you know how to sew, then you can easily sew beautiful chair covers from tulle. By the way, you don’t have to cut anything special. The main thing is to correctly measure the size of the back of the chair so that everything works out the first time.

Additionally, lace tulle covers can be decorated with satin ribbons, pearl beads and other elements that you have on hand.

The simplest option is to cut a wide strip and tie it beautifully on a chair or secure the tulle with a beautiful brooch. If there is no brooch, then it can easily be replaced with a satin ribbon in color, decorated with any suitable accessory.

The correct choice of pattern determines the basis of the product. The rectangular shape is the easiest to sew, especially if you are doing it for the first time.

Choosing a size

First of all, you need to understand what size bedspread you would like to sew:

  • Using a tape, measure the length, width and height of the bed. This will help in creating a pattern and modeling the bedspread.
  • On a squared notebook sheet, draw a drawing to the required scale. This way you can clearly see the design of the bedspread model and more accurately determine the final result.
  • When making a drawing, do not forget to take into account seam allowances and fabric fit (expect to leave two or more centimeters). This is necessary to be able to adjust the design, protecting yourself from unnecessary consumption of materials.

Window decor

Old tulle can also be glued to window glass. It will be something like marks from winter frosts, but it will look much better. But if you do not plan to leave such decor on the windows on a permanent basis, then it is better to glue the tulle onto starch.

Pom poms for decoration

And such pompoms can be made to decorate a child's room. They will look interesting in a multi-colored version. But even in a single color they will look good.

If desired, finished pom-poms can be decorated with rhinestones or painted in various colors.

Old tulle can also be used to decorate the entire house for the holiday. Simply wrap the balloon in tulle and decorate it with satin ribbons or artificial flowers and twigs.

Pouches
