The other day I made myself a home suit/pajamas from muslin. Then, using the same pattern, I sewed pajamas from sweatshirt with lycra. The result was such simple, light and comfortable pajamas, consisting of shorts and an off-shoulder T-shirt. I sewed the costumes using free patterns from Katya Mkhitaryan. The pajamas made of muslin (pink) took about 120 cm of fabric with a width of 135 cm. I took the pattern according to size (I have size 44). The pajamas from the cooler (blue, with owls) took 1 m of knitwear with a width of 180 cm. I took the pattern 1 size smaller, that is, 42 sizes. I processed the neckline, sleeve cuts and shorts differently.

Before constructing a pattern diagram, you need to carry out the procedure of taking measurements.

Note! It is not recommended to take your own measurements.

When modeling a pattern, the following parameters are taken into account:

• chest girth - OG, through protruding points parallel to the floor around the body;
• waist circumference - OT, measured at the narrowest part of the waist;
• hip circumference - OB, highlight the most protruding points on the buttocks and take measurements;
• chest height - VG, from the slope of the shoulder down to the most prominent point;
• back height - BC, from the beginning of the neck to the waist;
• shoulder length;
• shoulder circumference - OP, measured with the arm down;
• the length of the sleeve;
• shoulder width - ШП;
• length of the product.

Measurements are made using a centimeter tape. Rules:

• Take off on the right side of the body.
• First remove the girths, then the lengths.
• A man stands upright in light clothing.
• The waist is pre-girdled with a cord.
• The tape does not stretch or loosen.
• Build the diagram using half a figure.
• “C” is a half-girth sign.
• The length is written down in full, denoted by the letter “D”.

Taking measurements

What measurements need to be taken

Typically, for the top of the kit you will need the following data:

• half-circumferences of the chest, neck and hips;
• the length of the back and front to the waist line (from the shoulder slope to the waist);
• back width (distance between the corners of the armpits);
• arm circumference and sleeve length;
• center of the chest (measured along the protruding points and divided in half).

IMPORTANT! The length of the sleeve is fixed along the slightly bent arm to the place where it is planned to end.

For the bottom you need:

• semi-circumference of hips and waist;
• length of the trouser leg to the knee and on the side;
• width;
• seat height.

Pajama patterns

The pajama pattern consists of top and bottom parts. The first is a T-shirt, tank top.

The T-shirt is sewn from a one-piece part of the front, back, and 2 parts of sleeves.

The diagram shows half the back, front and sleeves. When cutting, the pattern is placed on the fold of the fabric. Sleeve when unfolding the pattern.

After taking correct measurements in accordance with all the rules, the seamstress can begin to form the pattern.

1. At the top right is the VPT point, from it down 2.8 cm, to the left ОШ/4.
2. From the last point obtained, move the socket to the left, then down 9 cm.
3. Measure DI down from the VPT point, then to the left from the resulting OB/4 point.

Cutting fabric

After taking measurements and modeling the pattern, you need to start cutting out the material.

Important! Before cutting the material, iron the fabric on the surface from the inside out. You also need to wash the item, so the girl will avoid the shrinkage process. The water temperature is equal to the one at which the item is washed further.

You can pre-wash a piece of fabric 15x15 cm.

Cut out the drawings along a clear outline drawn on paper. Then lay it out on the fabric, mark the lines, cut out the pieces.

1. Place the fabric right sides together. Attach a drawing to the fold and trace with a pencil or chalk.
2. Add a 1.5cm seam allowance to all sides. Trace again with an allowance.
3. The front is cut out according to a similar pattern.
4. The sleeves are cut in a mirror manner to obtain symmetrical details. Sleeve allowance 4 cm.

1. Fold the material, attach the outline of half of the front of the product. Trace with chalk and pencil.
2. Add a 1.5 cm allowance to each cut. Trace again with an allowance.
3. Cut out the butt.
4. Cut out 2 cuffs.

Patterns for pajama shorts and top

After all the manipulations with taking measurements and drawing the pattern, you need to start cutting the canvas. Before sewing, the silk must be thoroughly steamed, but very carefully so as not to spoil the fabric. Cut out the pattern and attach it to the fabric, carefully pin it with pins or needles to the fabric so that it does not move, and trace the diagram in chalk, cut out the part field very carefully.

Creating individual parts

Set aside the details of the bottom and top of the silk pajamas separately, and prepare the elastic for the shorts. • The length of the product must be shortened to the desired length.

• From the step seams of each part, retreat 4 cm down and mark the points.
• From the new points you need to draw a line to the intersection of the lines of the side seams and the height of the seat.
• To ensure that the shorts fit well to the buttocks, you need to mark mortar grooves 2 cm wide. They are placed from the bottom to the intersection of the seat height and the hip line.

The bottom is slightly adjusted, then the shorts are assembled according to the classic pattern. You can add patch pockets at the back.

Pajamas with shorts without side seam

You can work with a copy of the pattern for shorts with an elastic band. The only thing that needs to be changed is to add another 2 cm for the seam allowances, because sleepwear should be looser than everyday clothes.

It is also important to insert a wide elastic band. For pajama shorts, it is not advisable to sew it on the wrong side; it is better to make 1 wide drawstring in the waistband. The elastic band needs to be made loose. If OT is 72 cm, then 65-68 cm of tape will be required, depending on its elastic properties.

Skirt-shorts

To create a pattern for this style, you can use the same pattern, but it is more convenient to take the drawing of a basic straight skirt as a basis.

Instructions:

• From the middle lines in front and behind, around the waist, you need to measure the height of the seat with an increase of 2 cm. Mark these places with dots.

• From these points you need to draw lines for the length of the seat perpendicular to the middle ones, indicating the panels of the skirt.
• To calculate the beginning of the step line, you need to step back 1/10 PB from the middle of the back half of the pattern along the seat line to the left and add 2 cm.
• To mark the top of the step line on the front pattern, you need to repeat the steps from the previous point.
• From these points in front and behind you need to draw vertical lines of 7 cm.
• From the bottom of the crotch points, lines are drawn to indicate the bottom of the short skirt.
• To make the product wider, you should cut parts of the pattern along the line in the middle of the back and front, from the bottom to the grooves on the waistband located on the sides.
• The undercuts at the front need to be reduced by 2 cm to make the width of the front part slightly narrower.

The pattern is transferred to the fabric, and later all the parts are sewn together.

Full skirt-shorts

• The grooves need to be removed from the drawing and replaced on the assembly lines.
• The width of the product must be increased in accordance with the number of folds and their length.

The more folds there are on the fabric, the more magnificent the product will be. It will be difficult to visually distinguish such shorts from a simple skirt.

Straight model with pleats at front

This model involves a little more changes to the simple pattern:

• The length of the product should be increased to the knee with an increase of 4 cm at the hems.
• It is necessary to prepare pocket patterns on 2 sides. They will be located in the side seams. It is important that the depth of the pockets is 2 cm greater than the length and width of your arm.
• You need to make several folds under the belt; this must be taken into account when drawing the pattern rectangle in width.

The waistband in the straight model is not elastic. It has a clasp and also loops for securing the strap. Its width should be 3 cm when folded.

Short shorts with side vents

To pattern this product, you need to take as a basis a drawing of short, close-fitting shorts. To add slots, you need to step back from the bottom along the side seam in front and back 6 cm up. Along the bottom edges of the shorts, you need to put 1 cm up to get the width of 1 vent equal to 2 cm. The waistband in such a product should be inelastic, as in a straight model with folds. Belt width – 4-5 cm.

Pants-shorts

In this version, the belt also remains attached to the clasp. You need to sew a zipper on the front. You need to attach 4-5 loops to the belt to secure the belt. The shape of the shorts remains the same, you just need to add length so that the leg ends at the middle of the knee.

The folds need to be made a little wider than 3-4 cm. Inner pockets need to be sewn on the sides and pentagonal ones at the back. To make your products beautiful and look good, you need to choose the right fabric.
