Using a simple piece of fabric will require a minimum of effort from you, and if you want to create a handmade textile masterpiece for the kitchen, you can use buttons, ribbons, colored threads, appliqués and patches.
Production of wafer fabric
The waffle fabric itself is divided into several types. This is a harsh, bleached, plain-dyed and printed fabric.
Each type is obtained at a certain stage of production. The first type (severe) is obtained at the very first stage, i.e. immediately after weaving. This fabric turns out to be very dense and stiff, the initially obtained color is pale beige. Next, the canvas is trimmed. At this stage, debris and various impurities are removed. The result is a soft, perfectly white fabric that is ready for sale. But it doesn't always end there. There is a stage at which the canvas is painted, i.e. becomes plain-colored (painted in a uniform, monochromatic color) or printed (painted by applying a pattern).
Severe type
The “waffle” effect is obtained due to the combined weave of threads, which on the front side creates convex boundaries, between which a depression is formed.
Important. During production, they always rely on OKPD 2 so that the wafer fabric meets all standards in Russia.

I often come up with things that are simple and quick to process. But I also love testing products invented by someone.
Remember, at one time, a picture with a pattern for this robe often “walked” across the Internet?
I couldn't pass by. I liked that the cut was clear, simple, with almost no leftovers: all the fabric was used. Of course, there are some nuances revealed during the sewing process. About them below.

Choosing fabric for a robe
First, a few words about choosing fabric for a robe .
If you plan to use a bathrobe as a bathrobe (I sewed a bathrobe), the ideal fabric is “waffle”.
This is a lightweight cotton fabric that absorbs moisture well, dries quickly, and the weave of the threads resembles the sweet dessert of a waffle.

If the robe is an ordinary, homemade one, I recommend choosing fabric with the same color on both sides.

Cut the robe
The original pattern offers a complete drawing of the product, for laying out in one layer. It’s more convenient for me to do the layout on fabric with a fold, so I adapt the pattern.
The pattern is simple, so you can cut it directly onto the fabric .
Do not forget to first take the necessary measurements, make calculations and prepare the fabric for cutting (according to the properties of the selected material).

Sewing a robe
After cutting, so as not to be distracted later by sewing small parts, I start by preparing them: I make a belt and two belt loops.
the belt along the long and short sections, leaving an opening for turning inside out, turn it inside out, and sew up the hole.
the belt loops lengthwise and stitch close to the edge.
I recommend pre-stitching all sections of the robe.
Next I grind down the central and side parts of the hood . If necessary, you can disguise the stitching seams. Below I will show you how, using the shoulder seam as an example.
Processing the board
If the fabric is double-sided, you can simply fold it along the marked edge line and stitch it.
I cut out and sew an additional detail to the side - a bead, because... when worn, it will be visible.
Shoulder seams
I fold the front and back halves of the robe with the right sides inward, pin and stitch the shoulder seams.
This is where your first small difficulty may lie in wait.
close attention to the area where the shoulder seam and the hood meet. Try to reduce the line at the very beginning to nothing.
Next I adjust the trim to the front parts and secure it.
And having cut out a strip slightly wider than the seam allowance, with a length equal to the width of the hem, I sew the strip over the shoulder seam. The same disguise. You can use a ribbon of a suitable color.
I fold the sleeves with the right sides inward and stitch along the long edge.
I sew the bottom of the sleeve with a regular hem stitch with a closed cut.
Next I sew the sleeves into the armholes formed after sewing the shoulder seams.
There may be a second catch here. Being unaccustomed to it, it is difficult to sew a rounded part into an even straight cut.
I recommend slightly rounding the bottom of the armhole.
To do this, at the cutting stage, shorten the armhole slightly, cm by 1.5-2.0 and slightly round it along the lower edge, forming a small oval. This will make sewing in the sleeve much easier.
Note: Or you can sew the sleeve into an open armhole, like a shirt.
From the remaining rectangle (see drawing) I make a pocket .
I bend the edges, stitch the top one and grind the pocket blank into the right place.
I adjust the belt loops , bending them along short sections.
I fold the robe at the bottom and sew a stitch.
Super easy to cut and quick to sew, the robe is ready.

How to distinguish a fake from a high-quality wafer fabric
The fabric has a huge number of high-quality properties, but this does not apply to every product purchased. You need to be able to choose correctly so as not to miss the mark with quality. Low-quality material will not only not absorb moisture well and fight dirt, but can be very harmful. Therefore, before purchasing you need to pay attention to the following indicators:
- Compound. Despite the fact that waffle fabric is still considered a natural material, some craftsmen in China produce it from synthetic fibers. This not only negates all properties, but is also harmful, and synthetics are easily flammable, which can be dangerous in everyday life.
- Density. In order to get the highest quality fabric, you need to choose the highest density. In addition, such a product will last many times longer.
- Coloring. Bleached waffle towel fabric is the best option; it looks beautiful, is practical and will fit into any room. If you want something brighter, then you need to take plain-dyed or printed fabrics.

Swans
Making a figure is not very difficult; for the work you will need 2 or 4 towels without patterns.

- Fold the following products in the same way, place them on a shelf opposite each other so that their heads touch, you get an original pair of swans. This is a simple decoration option; if you make figures with beautiful feathers and more voluminous ones, you will need 2 more towels of the same color.
- For one swan, we arrange the product in the form of an accordion, simply spreading it over its entire length. Vertically and select folds, when the whole product is folded in this way, fold it in half in the center and place it on the figurine, melt the folds, you get slightly open bird wings.
