Sheepskin is an excellent material for indoor shoes. On cold winter evenings, your feet will not freeze, but they will not sweat either and, accordingly, there will be no unpleasant odor. It is best to choose sheepskin sleeves for sewing house shoes. There is the least amount of fittings and other finishing materials, and the structure of the sleeve will greatly facilitate the construction of the pattern. Before you start creating a pattern, you need to cut off the sleeves from a whole sheepskin coat and measure the length of the foot, as well as the width of the ankle.
Materials and tools necessary for work
In order to make homemade chuni you will need: a sheepskin coat, a sheet of paper, a pencil, a blade, a large needle and strong silk threads in the color of the sheepskin coat.
Important! When cutting, use a blade, not scissors. The blade will give more precise cutting and smooth lines, the cut will be even and the fur will not fray.

There are many options on the Internet for different construction of homemade chun patterns from old sheepskin coats. We bring to your attention the simplest one. First you need to build a base - an insole. Be sure to make two parts for the right and left legs. You can simply outline the foot with a pencil, but you need to check the foot length measurements. Next, we move on to building the side parts, there will be 4 parts. Draw a straight line on paper that matches your foot length. From one edge rise 4 cm - this will be a sock. From the other edge, rise 8 cm - this will be the height of the heel. From the highest point, set aside the width of your ankle divided by 2 and draw a straight line. Connect the resulting part with the toe of the product with a smooth line. It is also necessary to build the upper part of the chun. To do this, simply build a rectangle with sides 5.5 cm and 25 cm.

Thin fabric for bunny boots needs to be strengthened - glued with special materials, quilted with denser fabric. The “bunnies” must keep their shape well, so that the soft ears stand out against the background of the boot and are “alive” and mobile.
Ear patterns are added to the main patterns. We cut out 4 parts from the fabric in the form of an elongated oval with an extension towards one edge, from which the auricle will be formed. In addition to the ears, you can decorate the boots with a tail made of the main fabric or a wool pompom.
If the boots are sewn with a lining, then the number of parts of the boot and toe is doubled. First, the upper parts are sewn together, then they are connected to the sole. The seam can be either external or hidden. It depends on the skill level of the needlewoman. The ears are sewn into the seam connecting the lining of the boot with the top.
Tools and materials
Sheepskin is difficult to sew with your own hands, as it has thick skin. Therefore, before starting work, you should prepare tools suitable for the raw materials.
These include:
- awl;
- well-sharpened scissors with sharp ends;
- needle;
- thimble;
- pencil or chalk;
- threads and meter tape;
- pattern from cardboard, newspaper or plain paper;
- flaps of fur or skin.
For reference! For work, you can buy processed skins or use unnecessary fur items at home. Needlewomen rip out worn-out adult boots, children's fur coats or jackets and put them to use.

Which fabric to choose
There will always be scraps of fabric at home. Natural materials will do for your baby: flannel, flannel, wool or cotton knitwear, denim, thick warm cotton. For sewing, you can take fleece, but it is worth considering that not every sewing machine can handle it.
You will also need a regular textile elastic band. If you want to make warm moxas or boots for children based on the same pattern, you will need a thin padding polyester. Parts are cut out of it in the same way as from fabric.
Note! It is better to choose a structured fabric (not smooth) for the sole so that it slips less. If there is no suitable non-slip one, you will have to apply silicone glue from a tube to the soles.

Slippers will be many times warmer if you take the time and effort to equip them with soles. What do folk craftsmen offer us? Firstly, use ready-made insoles in this role: they are inexpensive, it is not difficult to buy, you can choose a suitable material. But you can actually make a completely durable sole with your own hands. I won’t describe the process, everything is clear without words. The result is a quite strong sole. Another option worth taking note is a fragmented sole. That is, you place patches made of durable material on the most abraded areas, thereby prolonging the life of the slippers.
