Knitting a women's vest: fashion patterns, details, accessories

It’s interesting that there are many variations of women’s vests: there are no strict limits regarding the choice of style, models, etc. It is the knitting needles that allow women to create beautiful sleeveless vests of any length - to the waist, to the hip line, to the knee and even longer.

A women's vest knitted can be:

  • without sleeves;
  • with a lowered shoulder;
  • with short sleeves or three-quarter length sleeves;
  • without collar;
  • with a V-shaped or round neckline;
  • with a collar of any shape and size;
  • without fastener and with various fastener options;
  • with cuts, etc.

Knitting a women's vest is carried out not only using relief patterns on a smooth background of the back or front fabric, but also with openwork. Even in the cold season, an interesting openwork women's vest knitted with knitting needles does not look out of place if you skillfully choose the color and thickness of the threads, as well as other items of clothing. For example, a voluminous vest, knitted with vertical openwork paths, emphasizes fragility and femininity.

A sleeveless vest for a woman is complemented by the following details and accessories: ornament, embroidery, zipper, beautiful wooden or other buttons, a matching bag, etc. A women's vest knitted with knitting needles is modern, stylish and very comfortable.

Which yarn should you choose?

You can use any thread, as long as the pattern looks as clear as possible. An exception may be yarn that is too fuzzy. The thread material is selected according to the planned style, the pattern of interest and the season of wearing the sleeveless vest.

Threads can have the following composition:

  • wool with the addition of other fibers in various proportions;
  • cotton in pure form or with additives;
  • mixed fibers.

A women's vest knitted from thick yarn using a convex pattern looks elegant, but the sleeveless vest made from thin cotton thread is no less interesting. Both plain knitted women's vests and combined ones are appropriate. The main color of the yarn and the finishing colors can be contrasting or differ only in the shade of one color. The main thing in knitting a women's vest is not to lose your sense of proportion.

DIY transformable vest

You can knit a transforming vest with knitting needles yourself, and the description of the work progress presented in this article will help you with this. This thing is very original, unusual, and most importantly comfortable and functional. When creating a transforming vest, you have the opportunity to show your imagination.

The photo shows a model of a transforming vest, which we will study in this article.

What kind of animal is this vest-shifter?

The inverted vest will become an irreplaceable item in your wardrobe. It is especially comfortable for constantly busy people: you can put on such clothes every morning. As a result, you will appear at work every day in a new look and amaze those around you with your unusual looks (and some models have 6 options for wearing). Asian magazines offer the most patterns and technologies for knitted inverted vests.

Such vests are usually made in one or several colors, supplied with different knitting. They are often decorated with Aran patterns or openwork, which complement stocking or garter knitting. Due to the specific dispersion of the knits, the inverted vest can be worn however you want.

How to knit a warm and bright transformable vest with knitting needles in a master class

The example in question is designed for sizes 36-42.

For work you will need the following tools and materials:

  • Section dyed yarn;
  • Knitting needles number 6.

This product will use patterns such as stockinette stitch and garter stitch.

The front rows will consist of facial loops, the purl rows will consist of purl loops.

The front and back rows will consist of facial loops.

Decorative additions will be made during the knitting process.

The right edge of the product is a hem, three loops in garter stitch, from the broach you need to knit one knitted one crossed.

Left edge - from the broach we knit one knit stitch, then three garter stitch stitches and an edge.

The knitting density of the product will be as follows: 13 loops per 21 rows, therefore the main pattern will have dimensions of 10 by 10 cm and will be knitted with knitting needles No. 6.

It is important to ensure that the knitting density matches that specified at the very beginning of work. If necessary, you can change the number of spokes.

Below is a pattern for a transformable vest.

Let's get to work.

On knitting needles No. 6 you need to cast on 7 stitches and knit 5 rows in garter stitch, the result should be 3 ribbed tracks. You should start with the purl row.

In each subsequent front row, one loop must be added twice on both sides, that is, a total of 11 loops must be added. These stitches and those that will be added should be knitted in stockinette stitch.

In each subsequent front row we increase on both sides 115 times in one loop. Pay attention to the decorative additions described above.

After 72 cm from the cast-on row, that is, after 74 decorative increases containing 159 loops, you need to continue working in the following sequence: edge, three loops in garter stitch, one decorative increase, gave 45 loops in stockinette stitch, 6 loops in garter stitch, 23 loops stockinette stitch, three garter stitch stitches, 23 stockinette stitch stitches, 6 garter stitch stitches, 45 stockinette stitch stitches, one decorative increase, three garter stitch stitches and a selvedge.

In the next row, to form an armhole, the work should be divided in the middle by 6 garter stitch loops and first knitted from the right edge, and the remaining loops should be temporarily left unworked.

Next, we continue to make decorative increases from the right edge and knit garter stitch on the last 3 stitches.

So we knit 20 cm of the product, that is, 43 rows and leave the loops for a while.

Next, we continue to make decorative increases from the left edge and knit garter stitch on the last 3 stitches.

After 20 cm we knit again on all loops, while on the 6th loop above the armholes we continue the garter stitch pattern for 5 rows. After this, we continue to work with stockinette stitch on the same loops.

Knitted transformable vest: diagrams with descriptions and photos

Agree, it is very convenient to have a thing in your wardrobe that, at the owner’s request, can easily be transformed into another, or even into several pieces of clothing. And these are not only fantastic inventions - today, various transformable things have gained great popularity among fashionistas all over the world. Today we’ll talk about a knitted transformable vest. This wardrobe item is quite simple to make with your own hands, but it looks very impressive. The first such vest invented by knitters was called “Maxi Bulky”, which translated meant “maximum volume”. A vest with a large hood could easily be transformed into a fitted jacket with a collar or a voluminous snood scarf, thanks to which it quickly took root in the wardrobe of many European women.

Brief overview of popular models

This is how knitted transformable vests with long sleeves from famous fashion trendsetters look very stylish and festive:

This beautiful vest can be knitted by any needlewoman; thanks to the various wearing options, this item will never tire of its owner:

These stylish transformable vests from the famous Georgian designer are a real spring find for many needlewomen:

Such a cute knitted transformable vest will warm you up during the spring frosts and give its owner a great mood. Knitting such a model with knitting needles is quite easy, the main thing is to choose high-quality yarn.

The stylish youth vest made of delicate melange yarn, presented below, will suit any creative nature. This wardrobe item will add even more charm and romance to your image:

A simple knitted vest made of bulky yarn is a real trend for the coming spring; it will help complete the overall look and protect you from the treacherous spring breeze:

Rectangular option

This wonderful two-tone vest is incredibly simple, looks very elegant and has several wearing options:

Such a functional item will successfully complement any look in a classic or casual style. Knitting is done from yarn of two contrasting colors, in our case - dark blue and pale blue shades.

When unfolded, the model is a rectangle with two slits for hands.

The voluminous collar reliably protects the neck from the cold wind.

The method of changing colors is shown in these photos:

We begin work by knitting the required collar width. To do this, you need to approximately measure the height of the neck and add to it the desired width of the lapel - this will be the width of the knitted fabric from the edge of the collar to the beginning of the armhole.

The length of the rectangle for the vest is equal to the circumference of the chest + an increase in the freedom of the fit and the wrap on the fastener.

When we reach the level of the armhole, we introduce an auxiliary thread of a contrasting color into the knitting - we knit it around the armhole so as not to violate the integrity of the knitting.

After finishing knitting the rectangle, transfer the loops collected with a contrasting thread to circular knitting needles, make armholes, and remove the thread. This way we get a neat edge.

And here are other transformer diagrams with photographs:

Stylish model in gray color

This vest will look especially beautiful if it is made from natural cashmere yarn. Since the model has no seams, it can easily be transformed into a warm, voluminous scarf if desired.

For knitting we will use this pattern:

We begin the simple manufacturing process. We will need knitting needles number 3.5-4 mm. We cast on one hundred and forty loops (for the largest size according to the pattern).

Elegant melange

Even a beginner knitter can handle this simple pattern, and thanks to its simple triangular shape, this vest goes perfectly with a dress, trousers or skirt of any cut.

To begin, take needles number 6, cast on seven loops and knit 5 rows using the garter method. In the next rows from each edge we make 115 additions of one loop in a decorative way. We make decorative additions for 4 loops, that is, before and after the edge loops + 3 loops, from the broaches we knit one crossed front loop.

Having knitted about 75 centimeters, we divide the fabric into three parts and begin knitting the armholes. Then we knit all the parts in 43 rows and again connect everything on one knitting needle. We continue decorative increases until there are 241 loops on the knitting needles, then close the edge of the product.

Girls from Osinka are knitting a changeover vest - I want one too :)

Here are some incarnations, it turns out so beautifully :)

Tanya knitted this (I hope she doesn’t scold me for posting the photo :))

Slots for sleeves - divide the knitting into three parts in the place where the slots begin, but the parts are not equal - the back is twice as wide as the front (this is clearly visible in the last photo), the second front is given with an allowance for the loops. For some reason, I always thought that the shelves were knitted the same width... Knit all three parts separately to the height required for the slits, one after the other. Then connect these parts, knitting the row completely, without separating.

Hello aspens. I just came across this thread. What beautiful vests. It turns out I was knitting a vest at the same time as you. Now everything is ready. My option. I didn't bother and knitted in a straight line. Yarnat yarn in my opinion 100m per 100g. knitting needles No. 6

Other description

I didn’t use anyone’s descriptions (of course, I read the topic, looked at all the pictures), I liked the idea, I implemented it as I felt. This is how I described this work in the PM for the LK-150 machine. Knitted for size 46. 71-0-73 through the needle (tension 5, density 13). 42 rows of stockinette stitch one shelf, in the 43rd row for the armhole I covered the middle 25 loops (23 at the edges), in the 44th row I cast on these middle 25 loops, reset the counter to zero, then 64 rows back, for the second armhole the same, where else - something like 48-50 rows, I don’t remember exactly. The second shelf is wider for convenience of smell, and also knitted the required number of rows, counting along the way how many are needed for a complete rapport of leaves (the number of rows should be a multiple of 9 according to the leaf pattern) . I knitted the leaves with knitting needles No. 7, after the first row I pulled a loop through the edge “body” and threw the last loop of the leaf pattern through it, then I did the same with the edge one row higher and knitted the purl row of the leaf pattern, etc. Due to this knitting, a textured bumpy path was formed between the leaves and the body. The second plank, a checkerboard, was knitted not as described in the topic, but across the body, i.e. I cast on stitches along the edges, 162 stitches (knit 9, purl 9, in my opinion, 9 or 10 rows each, making sure it was squares and not rectangles), I deliberately started the bar with a square with knits, and ended with purls. Then repeat in a checkerboard pattern 2 more times. Tying with crayfish step. I hid the threads by separating the thread into 2 parts, tying flat knots and hiding them between the loops. They hid very well. On such a thick thread, both the back and front stitches look textured. Now I’m knitting a second vest with knitting needles No. 8, but with a handkerchief (it’s very tedious to go through the loops through the row on the machine for this). Hopefully one of these days I'll be able to show it off. Kcunja , if you knitted a vest with one fabric, knit one front by a few centimeters, this will definitely not spoil anything; when you turn the vest over, you will simply create a smell on the other side.

Stylish knitted transformable vest. Diagrams and description

Increasingly, you can see the word “transformer” in stores and fashion magazines. A transformer can be a dress that has many variations of wearing, harem pants, a tube scarf that turns into a bolero, or a vest. Such things are original and multifunctional. But such clothes can not only be purchased in stores, but also made with your own hands, for example, knitted. Let's take a closer look at how to knit a transforming vest with knitting needles (diagrams and descriptions are attached).

Diagrams and description of a simple women's vest, part 1

Any woman probably has a sleeveless vest or vest in her wardrobe that can be worn over a blouse or turtleneck. This simple women's sleeveless vest is knitted from Slonim yarn for size 48-50. It is also suitable for overweight people.

Diagrams and description of a simple women's vest, part 2

How to wear?

Why is such a vest called a transformer? The fact is that in addition to the usual vest, this item can be worn in many ways. For example, as a bactus scarf, draped around the neck, or as a shawl, draped over the shoulders.

The transformable vest (you can see a photo of it in the article) will look great in several wearing options:

  • Like a regular long asymmetrical vest, without a fastener, with flowing sides.
  • Like a cropped vest if you wrap the edges tightly around your waist and tie in a knot.
  • Like an elongated sleeveless vest, if you fasten one edge to the opposite shoulder and pin it with a brooch.

Selection of yarn and tools

What yarn to knit a transforming vest with knitting needles from? Patterns and descriptions usually recommend a certain yarn for each specific model, but in reality you can safely experiment.

Thick wool yarn is perfect for a winter product. It is very warm, the item will look stylish, but then the edges of the vest will not flow as much as if the product was made from a thinner yarn. Although there is a way out of this situation: if you prefer bulky yarn, choose knitting needles one or two sizes larger than recommended, then the transformable vest will not only be warm, but soft and airy.

For a stylish accessory for spring and early autumn, thin wool or thicker cotton yarn is suitable. A thread with lurex or small sequins will look very beautiful. The product can be tied with an openwork pattern, then it can be worn in the summer.

Women's gray knitted vest

Size: 40/42. To obtain a product 1 size larger/smaller, you need to add/subtract 2 cm in width and 1 cm in length. You will need: 400 g of Loanda yarn from Schachenmayr, knitting needles No. 4.5 and No. 5.5.

Select a pattern

Such a complex and original thing as a transforming vest, knitted with knitting needles, does not need to be overloaded with a complex pattern:

  1. For thick bulky yarn, especially if it is melange, garter stitch is perfect - this is when all the loops in each row are knitted.
  2. Simple pearl knitting also looks beautiful. In the first row, alternate one knit stitch and one purl stitch, and in the second row, purl each knit stitch, and vice versa.

The good thing about these patterns is that they are reversible, so no matter how you tie the convertible vest, it will look neat.

If a simple monotonous knit is not for you, then you can decorate the product with braids, arans or lace. The image shows a diagram of a simple but interesting pattern with weaves. The pattern repeat is seven loops and twenty-seven rows.

Fashionable and comfortable vest - the highlight of the wardrobe

This stylish and simple transformable vest can be knitted with knitting needles, showing a little imagination and patience. We will need the following materials:

  • warm light-colored yarn - 1 skein;
  • warm yarn of a contrasting tone - 1 skein;
  • suitable knitting needles;
  • thick needle for stitching.

In our work we will use the following important abbreviations:

  1. P – loops.
  2. LP - facial loops.
  3. IP - purl loops.
  4. R – rows.

General knitting progress: cast on 48 P with light yarn, set it aside and cast on another 72 P with dark threads. Change color in purl. P is made using the well-known intarsia technique, so that from the reverse side the transition looks neat and aesthetically pleasing. We knit a stylish piece of clothing with a well-known stockinette stitch pattern - all LP. We knit the first 72 stitches with dark threads, the remaining 48 stitches with light threads.

2 P: remove 1 P, then 47 P with light yarn, 78 P with dark LP threads.

3 P: also remove 1 P, then knit all the LPs.

To get a fabric with armholes, we knit the required length for the front and close 32 P. We knit the back with a solid fabric, now we again close 32 P on the knitting for the armhole. We weave the remaining ends of the thread, our beautiful vest is ready.
