DIY sun costume for girls and adults: step-by-step costume making

Master class “Do-it-yourself kokoshnik for the Sun costume”

Natalya Belogurova
Master class “Do-it-yourself kokoshnik for the Sun costume”

On the eve of the matinees dedicated to March 8, I received the task of making a headdress for Sun costume

. One teacher bought the material, ribbon, doublet and sequins, drew a sketch of a dress, and another teacher sewed a dress based on this sketch.

I decided to make a headdress like a kokoshnik . I wanted it to be beautiful and last longer. I made a sketch, but you can draw anything, but when it comes to practice, it’s not so simple. I would like to thank our psychologist Natalya Alekseevna for the help provided in creating the kokoshnik for the Sunny

. She sews and understands tailoring, and these skills came in very handy.

So I drew a template.

for the base of the kokoshnik .

2 pieces with allowances were cut out of the fabric.

The parts were glued with dublerin for thin fabrics.

Glue "Dragon"

glued the part onto a cardboard base. The allowances were smoothed out and glued to the reverse side using thin strips of double-sided tape.

For the second part, it was decided to cut off the allowances and treat the edge with PVA glue, since the fabric turned out to be loose.

After the edge had dried, the part was glued on the other side to the base.

I made a wide headband from wire and cardboard and foam rubber.

A crown and ribbon ties were glued into the headband and covered with fabric. Regular clothespins helped hold the fabric in place until it stuck securely.

In order for the kokoshnik to stay well on the head, I made a frame from a wide elastic band; hair bobby pins can be pinned to it.

The rubber frame was covered with a fabric cap. The ribbons are pulled together and tied into a bow, which allows the kokoshnik to stay firmly on the head.

Well, and of course the decoration of the kokoshnik . First, apply “Dragon”

I glued a thin satin ribbon of a darker shade than the fabric. I glued the sequins using a glue gun.

And here is the finished costume !

Our "Sun "

has already successfully illuminated the matinees.
I hope that it will shine on our holidays for a long time. And I gained experience in creating a kokoshnik . And despite the fact that it was not so easy, I want to make more than one kokoshnik with my own hands , if only I had enough time for everything.
I will be glad if my master class is useful and helps someone!

Master class vytananka with an emphasis on the color red “On the eve of the Nativity of Christ” The Nativity of Christ is approaching, Everything around is changing. In anticipation of a miracle, everything calms down, And a candle illuminates my window. I cut it out of paper. Master class “Bullfinches on a pine branch” using the “vytynanka” technique Today on the Internet you can find many diagrams and templates for making vytynankas. But this year, over a cup of tea, the idea was born.

Sunbeam costume for girls

Greetings to all craftswomen and sewing lovers! For those parents whose children go to kindergartens, the issue of choosing a costume for various holidays is always relevant. Sometimes they are so incredible that you have to rack your brain to come up with one. How to convey an idea and image using an outfit? So I was faced with a similar situation. Today I will show you how I sewed of sunshine costume for a girl .

This outfit is for my goddaughter who is only three years old. In the garden at the matinee dedicated to March 8, she will be a ray of sunshine. Unfortunately, we will not be allowed into the event itself, but they promised to take photographs.

This is her first performance and I wanted the outfit to be pretty and girly. Although the ray is masculine, ours turned out to be very feminine. For the costume, I purchased yellow satin and tulle, and for decoration and decoration I took gold sequins.

Master class on making a stage costume “Sunny”

Master class “Sun Costume”.

Preparing for the next children's event, we needed a Sunny costume. Since it was not possible to buy a ready-made suit, and time was running out, as always, we decided to sew it ourselves. The costume itself is easy to sew (for which thanks to my colleague Natalya Kiryaksovna Grigorieva), but the upper part - the head - made my brain work. And this is what came of it.

Foam rubber 2 cm thick – 1.5*1m

Foam rubber 1cm thick – 20*20 cm

Glue gun sticks – approx. 10 pieces

Sharp large and small scissors

Yellow acrylic paint, diluted with water - approximately 100 ml

Spray gun or spray gun

Acrylic paint a little white for the eyes and red for tinting

Black felt for eyelashes 0.3 cm thick – 10*10 cm

Blue mesh (tulle) – 20*20 cm (for the eyes to see)

Elastic band 2cm wide - approx. 1 m

And patience, a lot of patience)))

To begin, we cut out the blanks: two circles approximately (the second, back, larger to make darts like a hat, thereby creating space for the head. I cut out the circles by eye, focusing on my head), a nose, cheeks, rays of arbitrary length.

Let's start assembling. Carefully glue the foam along the edge on both sides. I forgot the most important thing. YOU MUST CUT THE FOAM CLEARLY ACCORDING TO THE CONTOUR SO THAT NO TRACES FROM THE PENCIL OR PEN ARE LEFT, OTHERWISE EVEN WHEN PAINTING, BLACK TRACES WILL APPEAR. (experienced the hard way).

On the back circle we make darts, I did it intuitively, constantly trying it on myself. I think anyone who sews well can immediately imagine in which places to cut the foam rubber))) I had to tinker with this.

I apologize for the bitten foam rubber, it’s just that my cat Timofey could not remain indifferent and contributed his share to the master class))) (of course, it all had to be cut off). And we continue. We glue the circles by 2/3, leaving the rest for dressing. On the front circle we make markings for the eyes, nose and cheeks, and draw lips. Glue all the details and move on to the lips. We cut out the lips from thin foam rubber, slightly larger than those drawn on the circle. We cut them into two parts and start gluing them. Apply glue along the contour, slightly bending it inward, and for volume, place circles of foam rubber inside the lips.

How to make a “Sunshine” costume

Most often, the role of the sun goes to adults or girls.
Such models are represented by a headdress and a yellow skirt or sundress. There may be several options:

  • A circle skirt, a cape over the shoulders and a round kokoshnik in the shape of the sun.
  • A sundress with a knitted blouse of a matching shade, large yellow bows on the head.
  • If there is no time to make a costume, then it can be created from basic clothing and small characteristic elements. For example, use a yellow T-shirt and skirt. As an additional element, make a round yellow crown or a medal badge for the chest.

  • A circle skirt, a cape over the shoulders and a round kokoshnik in the shape of sunlight.
  • A sundress with a knitted blouse of the optimal shade, large yellow bows on the head.

DIY sun costume for a girl

Every girl wants to be dressed up for a holiday. Little princesses like it when the skirt swirls beautifully while dancing, the outfit shimmers with bright colors, and the hairstyle is comfortable and neat. It is not difficult to sew such a costume yourself.

Costume components

The model under consideration consists of the following elements:

  • skirt;
  • cape;
  • bright yellow bows on the head;
  • yellow tights or socks.

By the way! The skirt should not be long. It is enough for it to be just above the knee. Often costumes are represented by long skirts and sundresses. Such models are uncomfortable to wear. The hem gets tangled in her legs, and the girl has to constantly adjust it.

Required tools and materials

For production you will need:

  • The fabric is yellow. Satin works well.
  • Yellow glitter.
  • Big bows on the head.
  • Scissors, thread.
  • Satin ribbon.
  • Linen elastic.

Step-by-step making of a sun costume for a girl

Important! When sewing, you need to take the child’s measurements correctly. In the case of a sun outfit, you will need to measure your waist circumference and the length of the proposed skirt.

Sewing includes several successive stages:

  • Making a skirt. The model is cut out like a circle skirt. To do this, draw a circle on the fabric. The location of the proposed belt is marked and cut out. The radius of the circle should be equal to the length of the future skirt, taking into account the hem. The finished pattern resembles a round donut with a hole in the middle. The bottom edge of the skirt is folded. An elastic band is inserted into the upper part.
  • Making a cape. To do this, the fabric is again cut in the form of a circle. An internal hole is cut for the neck. The cape differs from the skirt in that it is not one-piece: it has a button closure at the back. To do this, the circle must be cut along the radius. All edges of the cape are processed. A button is sewn on one edge and a loop on the other.
  • Decorating a skirt and cape. To depict rays, you can sew a thin yellow satin ribbon onto the skirt and cape. Such strips of tape are sewn along the entire circumference along the product. To make the sun bright and iridescent, sequins are sewn onto clothes in random order.

On a note! It is better to use exclusively yellow glitter. Sometimes sequins of similar shades are sewn on: orange, red. But they do not make the costume beautiful; on the contrary, they overload it with unnecessary elements.

  • On the day of the holiday, you need to braid beautiful ponytails or braids on the head of the young sun. The choice depends only on the length of the hair and the wishes of the little actress. It is better to take a lot of ribbon for bows, and its color should be rich. To prevent your hair from losing its appearance, you can fix it with hairspray.
  • Yellow tights or socks complete the look. The choice is made based on the air temperature in the room.

The sunshine outfit for the girl is ready! This costume is easy to make, and the child will be comfortable in it.

DIY “Sunny” costume for an adult

Often teachers ask mothers to play some role at the holiday. It’s definitely not worth refusing a request because you don’t have an outfit. It can be done in one evening.

What does the suit consist of?

The magical transformation of mom into “sunshine” can be achieved thanks to the following elements:

  • kokoshnik in a semicircular shape;
  • yellow sundress to the floor;
  • blouses, T-shirts or turtlenecks in a suitable shade;
  • bright makeup.

What you need to make a costume

To make a sun costume for an adult, you need:

  • yellow bright fabric;
  • thick cardboard;
  • yellow sparkles;
  • satin ribbon;
  • bright lipstick;
  • yellow T-shirt, blouse or turtleneck;
  • threads, scissors.

Step-by-step making of a sun costume for an adult

The whole process can be divided into several steps:

  1. Making a sundress. To cut a sundress, you need to place any adult T-shirt (not narrow, preferably a man’s) on the yellow fabric. Cut the fabric along the outline of the sleeveless T-shirt. The drawing must be lengthened and widened so that the hem of the sundress is fluffy and does not hinder movement. Next you need to cut out the parts, make shoulder and side seams, and trim the edges.
  2. For the kokoshnik, you need to cut out a piece in a semicircular shape from cardboard. Next, transfer the drawing to the fabric. Cut out patterns from the fabric, sew them on the wrong side, turn them inside out and cover the cardboard part with them. A satin ribbon is sewn to the base of the kokoshnik. The ribbon should be long, since it not only holds the kokoshnik, but is also tied at the back.
  3. The kokoshnik and sundress are decorated with glitter. You can sew them in any order or come up with a beautiful pattern.
  4. The suit is completed with a matching blouse or turtleneck.

On spring days, a number of events dedicated to March 8, Easter and other special dates are held in schools or other children's institutions. The “Sunshine” costume can be useful at any time of the year.

There are several ways to make a Sunshine costume for a girl with your own hands. Let's consider both simple and more complex options.

Option 1: applique

Making your daughter look like the bright summer sun is easy and simple. It's worth digging through your clothes and finding the right bright yellow dress. If you don’t have one, you can buy cute clothes in the store. Sew a sun applique onto the bodice of the dress. You can buy it in special stores with sewing accessories or make it yourself. It looks like this:

  1. We find a suitable image and try to draw a sun, as shown in the figure.
  2. Carefully cut out.
  3. We sew yellow threads onto the bodice of the dress.
  4. You can place plastic film between the sun and the bodice fabric, cover it with linen cloth and support it under the pressure of a hot iron.

The applique dress is ready for the event. We decorate the girl's head with a yellow ribbon.

Option 2: headband and a little creativity

The second way to create a Sun costume for a girl with your own hands is a little more complicated and interesting.

Let's prepare materials that will help in creating the outfit:

  • any yellow dress or blouse and skirt made of yellow fabric;
  • scraps or a piece of satin fabric in yellow and orange;
  • cardboard;
  • headband;
  • paper and a simple pencil;
  • PVA glue;
  • golden tinsel, rain;
  • Czech shoes or slippers according to your foot size;
  • needle, yellow and orange threads;
  • scissors.
  1. First, let's take care of the outfit, and then the paraphernalia. Decorating a yellow dress. From pieces of orange fabric we cut out cuffs with triangular-shaped edges. Sew them to the sleeves, carefully tucking the edges.
  2. We decorate the collar in the same way. Cut out a semicircle with pointed rays from orange fabric and sew it to the neckline. Place a seam in the middle of each triangle.
  3. The bodice of the dress will become more elegant and bright if you depict the sun from sequins or tinsel.
  4. Decorate the edge of the dress with golden tinsel. Cover shoes or slippers with yellow fabric.
  5. Let's move on to the headdress. We cut out the kokoshnik on plain paper, adjusting it to the size of the rim. We draw the kokoshnik in the form of a sun with rays. Cut out the workpiece. We trace the cardboard and fabric parts according to the template. Using PVA glue we glue the parts of the headdress together. We decorate the kokoshnik with tinsel, beads, and sequins. We fix it on the rim.

A bright and beautiful hand-made Sun costume for a girl will serve as a source of pride and admiration at the holiday.

    Before starting work, let's prepare everything you need:

    • tape measure;
    • chalk;
    • scissors;
    • yellow and orange fabric paints;
    • needle, yellow thread;
    • rubber;
    • hot melt adhesive.
    1. The children's costume “Sun” will consist of two parts: a headdress and a skirt.
    2. We take measurements: head circumference and waist circumference, measure out the desired length of the skirt. We make two round templates to cut out two sun-flare-shaped parts from foam rubber. We measure the radius of the circle according to the length of the skirt. We cut out a circle in the middle according to the parameters taken from the waist circumference.
    3. We fold the second part in half, make a hole in the middle according to the measurements of the head circumference.
    4. We fold the two blanks in half and make cuts in the shape of sun rays. There will be two big stars in front of us.
    5. According to the instructions, dilute the paint in the prepared container and paint the foam rubber yellow.
    6. After drying, sew the elastic band to the waist and headdress.
    7. We paint the pieces of foam rubber orange and glue them on top of the yellow rays.

    It’s worth breaking down the workflow step by step.

    It is necessary to measure the girl's waist using an elastic band.

    It is necessary to cut the fabric into strips, the width of each element will be approximately 15 - 20 cm.

    The elastic must be folded with a pin, then put on the back of the chair. One part of the strip is folded in half and threaded under the tape. After this, it is passed through the loop.

    Straighten the knot, this way it will look much more impressive. Tie all the strips around the elastic band.

    After all the previous steps have been completed, you should try on the skirt. Often the elastic band has stretched by this time. In this case, you should sew a ribbon to it, then tie it with a bow. Next, one end should be carefully sewn to the other end.

    Then it’s the turn of the cardboard; you should draw snowflakes on it. Cover the outline with parchment paper, then trace with hot glue. Before the glue has time to harden, you should sprinkle the outline with glitter.

    The next step is to attach the lace crafts to the front side of the skirt.

    Option 2: headband and a little creativity

    The second way to create a Sun costume for a girl with your own hands is a little more complicated and interesting.

    Let's prepare materials that will help in creating the outfit:

    • any yellow dress or blouse and skirt made of yellow fabric;
    • scraps or a piece of satin fabric in yellow and orange;
    • cardboard;
    • headband;
    • paper and a simple pencil;
    • PVA glue;
    • golden tinsel, rain;
    • Czech shoes or slippers according to your foot size;
    • needle, yellow and orange threads;
    • scissors.

    Option 3: volumetric “Sun”

    Making an original outfit for a matinee is creative and interesting work. Every mother who wants to please her princess has the opportunity to create a unique costume for her daughter.

    We will make the next Sunny costume using a headdress and a yellow skirt. For girls, you will need very little consumables. We will cut out the clothing items from foam rubber.

    Before starting work, let's prepare everything you need:

    • tape measure;
    • chalk;
    • scissors;
    • yellow and orange fabric paints;
    • needle, yellow thread;
    • rubber;

    A hand-made Sun costume for a girl will create the image of a small bright luminary, delighting everyone around her.

    Master class Sunshine for Sunshine! New Year's carnival costume

    Good hour!!! To all those who came to my master class.

    The most precious thing in life for us is our children, our sunshine.

    So let's make them happy!!!

    I want to share with you the idea and method of creating a carnival costume from Slnyshko foam rubber.

    So, let's begin!

    For work we will need:

    A sheet of foam rubber 10 mm thick, a tape measure or measuring tape, chalk, scissors, acrylic paint for fabric in yellow and orange, a needle, yellow threads, an elastic band 10 mm wide, super glue.

    This is the paint I use:

    You also need to prepare work clothes, a basin, a rag and a sheet that you don’t mind getting completely dirty with paint, preferably gloves, but for some reason I don’t use them, a scrub helps me.

    We should have 2 parts of the costume, a skirt and a headdress.

    We take measurements - head circumference and waist circumference.

    Now let's start cutting out the skirt.

    We find out the radius of the cutout at the waist, you can cut a thread as long as the waist circumference, fold it in a circle, measure the diameter and divide by 2.

    I got 9 cm. I added another 3 cm to the width so that the skirt could be worn, but not more, because... the foam stretches. And another 25 - 30 cm is the length of the skirt, it depends on the height of the child.

    I measured the total length to be 45 cm, and marked it on both sides with chalk on the foam to create the middle.

    Then, holding the tape measure in the center, and holding the chalk at the 45 mark, I drew a circle - like a compass.

    Now we cut:

    After this we need to cut the middle into rays.

    We fold our circle in half and in half again and cut the middle into 12 cm, calculated at the waist, in each direction, like this:

    Now let’s deal with the rays - also, folding in half, we make cuts along the edge of the circle, approximately 15 -18 cm from the edge, then, combining the resulting cuts, again in half and cut, combine the cuts diagonally and again in half, and cut - like cutting a cake .

    In total we will have 8 cuts, now armed with chalk, we divide each piece into 3 parts, mark the midpoints between the lines and draw rays from these midpoints.

    Now we cut:

    We save all the cut out triangles for decoration.

    We cut out the headdress in the same way.

    Only we cut the radius of the middle 2 cm less than the protected radius of the head, because The foam stretches, and we need it to sit tightly on the head, without elastic.

    We cut out the rays thinner to make the design easier, dividing one of the 8 parts not into 3, as in a skirt, but into 5 parts.

    Now let's start painting the foam rubber.

    We painted them ready-made because it was easier to soak them in paint and squeeze them out.

    So, having first put on your work uniform, pour approximately 500 - 600 ml into the basin. warm bottom, add 50 ml - 1 bottle of paint and stir well.

    Now we blot our suns in a basin, wring them out and blot them again so that the paint saturates the parts evenly.

    A very important aspect of dyeing is the squeezing process; you need to wringer it very well, but not tear the parts. For this we will use unnecessary rags.

    Having wrung out as much as possible, we lay out the parts on a fabric surface and blot them thoroughly so that the foam is of an even tone, without excess liquid.

    Now we paint the triangles for decoration.

    To the remaining squeezed paint, add another 100 ml of water and a little orange paint (just dip your finger), the tone of the details depends on the amount of paint.

    We also squeeze it thoroughly, blot it with a rag and leave everything to dry.

    When everything has been done and dried, we begin to decorate the skirt, here everything depends on your imagination.

    I cut out parts from narrow and wide triangles, cut off the edge of the foam rubber from the front part, it looks neater this way..

    and glued them to the skirt with super glue.

    I use this glue because it dries quickly and, as it were, fuses the parts together.

    After dropping a few drops of glue, hold the parts with a little pressure; if you press hard, the glue will burn through the foam rubber and there will be holes, and even worse, it will stick tightly to your hands. Such adhesive foam pieces come off the skin after about a week, or are removed along with the skin. (Well, I completely scared you, be careful)

    But it turns out very interesting.

    You can also decorate with rhinestones, sequins, light braid - there is room for your imagination.

    Now we sew the elastic to the skirt, manually, using a regular running stitch, stretching it and slightly loosening the thread.

    Sew along the edges of the cuts.

    The costume is ready!!!

    We buy a yellow T-shirt and tights, or sew a blouse and trousers - as you wish.

    You need to put on the headdress so that it holds its shape; to do this, we put it on the neck, turn all the corners to the bottom and put it on the head.

    This is the kind of sunshine we got!!!!

    Give your child a holiday!!!!

    Thank you very much for your attention, I will be glad if you like my master class, and most importantly, if it comes in handy!

    All creative successes, with respect, Natalya!
